When A NFS Movie?

The games are a total success....why not making a movie after them?

reply

Even though not exactly NFS movies, Fast and Furious fill the street racing movies need. (#4 is on the way!)

The NFS storylines aren't that consistent material for movies. They focus on street racing gaming rather than good storylines. Movies are likely to flop unless you're a NFS fan-to-the-death.

You know how hollywood is…..they can probably make a storyline around any game, no matter how storyline-less it is!! And who knows, it might end up being pretty good?
Btw, did you see the trailer for the game??? It SOOO looks like a movie, it made me want to buy the game. Talk about good advertising!!!

reply

C'mon, the best part of NFS certainly isn't the acting and storytelling...

reply

He got a point, hollywood can make a movie from anything...
Look at Dead Or Alive, Doom, House of the Dead, Street Fighter etc.
But if it ends up being good is another discussion :P

Fast and the furious are basically NFS movies without the stamp.

No storyline in the games are worth a movie. Besides, we aren't playing the game for the story but for the racing and the cars

reply

Moreover if anyone wants a NFS Undercover movie go watch the first Fast And the Furious approx. same storyline

Although I generally don't play a racing game for a story, it would be nice for a game to have one that was good besides the very few, even with what little narrative was present, did a rather okay job (Ridge Racer Type 4 gets mention because there were some characters you could be interested in during the Gran Prix mode), considering the standards of a story in a racing title (which so far with what I've seen isn't too high).

NFS Undercover's storyline was probably the weakest of any NFS or racing title period, Most Wanted had a somewhat satisfying end, you got a lot of talk from the cast and well, it was something, not perfect, not even awesome but it was good. Carbon had potential but was not fully utilized, and the ending and motivations of Darius left me underwhelmed considering the plot leading up to the climax actually had me interested save for the very beginning. Pro Street was starting something else that also had promise but no, that didn't go far either, but then again this is Electronic arts, and NFS is one among many reasons why I avoid their games save for the companies Crytek, and Criteron to name two as they make good games, they are just under a crap Publisher.

I'd go into more detail just why I found flaws in each game's storyline but maybe later.

Far as a movie goes, I'm with some of the other replies, it may not work well given what is there is not much, and good Video game based movies are few, far between and arguable, plus Hollywood is not the only place to go about with movies based on video games as there are other places in the US and the world where they could go about trying to make an NFS movie, not that I'm encouraging one given the reactions of people on any kind of VG based movie regardless if it's actually good or bad. It would boil down to how things are done, but I say for now, not to bother.

Until EA actually gives enough of a damn for a good story (And while where at it, a good game, Most Wanted for me was the last good NFS, Carbon an almost, and I disliked Underground 1 and 2 given how they threw fans of the games prior to them under the bus with those titles, among other complaints), and a story that ties in well with what you could be doing, I say for them not to bother.

My two cents on the issue for now.

To all those who think that a game based movie should be based ENTIRELY on the game. Doom (the movie, not the game) was a great example of this. It did neccessarily stay true to the game (gentic disease infection rather than a portal to hell) in order to make it a half decent B-grade film.

If they do make a NFS movie (I'm a big fan of the series), I would like it to be based on the old NFS like High Stakes and Hot Pursuit II. When it was stll about the finest performance vehicles on the road as opposed to the new fad of the import tuner scene. Also I would like the story to focus mainly on the racing, not on some sort of wild series of heists.

The Fast and The Furious and Redline pulled this off very well. I mean sure, it was no Godfather or Dark Knight, but still, it was enjoyable or any car fan to watch. Redline was a good example of what a NFS movie (or heck, a NFS game) should be like. A group of very rich people coming together and wagering millions of dollars on races with the best of Ferraris, Porsches, Lambo's etc. with a few cop chases thrown in. That, is what I would like to see from a NFS movie.

I'm sure all of you out there would agree with me.

You question GOOD storylines, but bring up the Fast And Furious films.
