My S1 thoughts and observations (spoilers)

I'm a casual Fallout fan who played Fallout 76 but I don't know all the lore. I really enjoyed season one and I think it looks and feels like the Fallout video game. The power armor is my favorite tech in the game and it's great to see it on the screen.

Walton Goggins is always amazing and he really does a great job. It'll be interesting to see how Cooper Howard was transformed from a caring and patriotic human into a heartless and cruel ghoul. Ella Purnell is such a likeable actress with Bette Davis eyes that mesmerize. It was cool to see cameos by Erik Estrada and Michael Rappaport.

The show isn't too woke but Amazon does require DEI casting. I imagine Jonathan Nolan has more control over the production since he is an established director/writer. Nolan also is a fan of the Fallout 3 video game so he might just tell an Amazon exec to stop meddling with his story. Some woke moments that I remember were the Native American actor complaints about getting generic roles, the scrawny non-binary female in the Brotherhood of Steel and the debate over how to rehabilitate the raider captives in vault 33.

I'm looking forward to season two. I would rate the first season an 8/10. I'm ignorant of much of the lore so I'm not mad about any lore changes made by the writers.

The power armor looks janky and distinctly un-hydraulically assisted in many of the shots. The woke trappings were a given from conception...I take what I can get from pop culture these days, and ignore the rest. It will serve as a record of cultural decay for future generations, at least.
