So what seperates this...

the film is very passionate and sexy, but there is an undertow to these characters. they have their own motives to being there. maybe their individual stories aren't as enveloping as their physical communication.

either way, they gave each other what they needed. i doubt it was the sex, although fun and completely pushed by the trailer. it seemed to me that both characters needed to feel worthy of someones love. when a complete stranger is capable of giving that to you, it's all the more powerful.

but, could have been pulled off better.

Well, even if you and your (girl)friend made love all night long and hop around naked all morning, there are moments when it's not all about sex anymore. Especially later on, the lust and the nakedness will become normal and you start to talk. And start to think again.

This Spanish film reminded me a little of the 1990 french film 'Nuit d'été en ville', in which two lovers are naked throughout the night they spend together in a room (ending up dressed, as someone else on imdb wrote).



"Being lost in a film is totally fine."

is the lack of explicit sex, and the film's determination to stand as erotica rather than pornography.

There are complex characters, an emotional journey and dialogs? If you have seen any of those in any porn, straight or lesbian, I want some titles lol.
The fact that so many people can just discard everything that is not sex in the movie is really their issue, not the movie's.

I'd say that what separates them (apart from the obvious explicitness of porn films) is that porn doesn't usually pretend to have a storyline but this movie does pretend.

The film goes for 1 hour 49 minutes. There is less than 10 minutes of sex scenes.

obviously with the nudity, it's a bit distracting at first (being i am a guy and all ;) ) but eventually you start getting into the characters (the interaction between the two leads) which help make it more interesting.

bottom line... the general feel/tone of the movie, along with the characters interaction, ultimately carry the movie for me.

i give it a 7/10 (Thumbs Up).

for the record... this is not actual porn. people use that 'porn' word a bit to much when referring to actual movies as there is technically nothing in this movie that make it like actual (hardcore) porn.

at the most, it's softcore porn. but... i still don't consider this truly a softcore porn level movie purely because those types of "movies" are just a excuse to get people naked to have sex as much as possible (i.e. they are pointless to watch basically since they are not really porn or a movie) where as this Room in Room actually feels like a movie except it's loaded up with a lot of nudity is all.

so basically with the actual softcore porn stuff everything else besides the sex scenes are total filler just to get back to the next sex scene where as Room in Rome is the other way around with it being like a actual movie (characters/feel/tone of it etc) with there just happening to be a lot of nudity in it is all. but with the amount of nudity in the movie that it has (which is basically a lot) that will make many people automatically scream 'o my god, it's porn!' since that's all they pay attention to. but i admit that earlier into the film the nudity is a bit distracting as it takes you out of the movie a bit because it's hard to block that out and focus on the movie itself (being i am a guy and all) but as the movie goes forward you start to pay more attention to what's going on instead of the obvious visuals (which i can't complain about ;) ).

hell, ill admit when i first seen it (i have only seen it once so far (on Aug 19th 2012)) i probably gave it a shot due to the lets just say 'visuals' ;), but i ended up liking the actual movie itself to as it's a movie i could watch again. also, to be clear... i won't give a movie a Thumbs Up purely because there is a ton of nudity in it (in fact, there probably ain't been many movies i have seen like this in general) and even my 7/10 score for this movie is nothing that high either as most movies i watch in general land on either a 6/10 (Thumbs Down) or a 7/10 (Thumbs Up) as i consider a 7/10 my minimum score in order to re-watch something (with rare exception to that rule). but it's more in the 7.5-8/10+ area is when a movie lands in memorable status for me as i would say semi-memorable status for me is the 7-7.5/10 area.
