One of those movies where..

nothing really happens and the plot and story isn't all that remarkable, yet after watching this film, I'm left with this quiet reflective feeling that's comforting yet entirely melancholy as well. A lot of this probably has to do with Jeff Bridges character. Decent movie, phenomenal acting.

Anyone kind of sort of know what I'm talking about here?

yeah definitely, I get that feeling too. I went into it expecting it to be exactly like The Wrestler really. Of course there were many similarities but not the mood or feel of it.. but its one that left me pondering for a while and I was thinking how great Jeff Bridges really was. Every single scene he was in was perfectly acted. There was nothing that remarkable about what happens or anything but for some reason its deep, after thinking about it for a while lol. The music in it was excellent too and I've never been a fan of country music but this movie changed my opinion on it

This is one of those movies that has such a good performance out of its lead actor until nothing else really matters. I didn't feel that Jeff Bridges was acting at all. He WAS Bad Blake. I suppose that I should confess my love of Mr. Bridge's acting for over 25 years. He is a very good actor and I'm glad that he got an Oscar BEFORE he passed, or was too old to care. I really can't wait to see him in True Grit.

I wouldn't say 'nothing really happens,' because the main character hits bottom and finds help and recovers, and writes songs again, when he was heading no-where. But even with that the whole thing 'isn't all that remarkable', true enough, and as you point out it succeeds due to the character, and Jeff Bridges' acting lifts it up into something remarkable.
