I agree with the other poster - you coldly dump someone the year before, you don't show up flashing an engagement and ask for a story for your paper.
At least in real life most women wouldn't come back like that; they just leave you for dead. They know better than to come back to the scene of the crime and BS you for their own gain.
Her character, in my opinion was a typical single mother on the hunt for security and a daddy for her kid among a country & western backdrop. She jumped into bed with a man old enough to be her father. Bad Blake should've known he was going to have to part with some money getting in her pants. She was also engaged within a year of coldly dumping him. That's a bit fast, if you ask me. Her character just looked like she'd be divorced a lot, living off men. I didn't like the floozy at all! Getting involved with an old drunk, then engaged to another man within a year/year & a half span. Yep, she was a flat assed floozy alright.
