God I hated Kyle...Just pure hated him.

And was I was only happy that his dad didn't have to put up with his little weird ass anymore. I've only watched it twice, (why is this a comedy? )but did I miss something, anything about Kyle that would make me have a little sympathy for him. Because that kid was an *beep*

And also this movie should be rated higher.

I felt the same way initially when he finally David Carradined himself but this was a kid with a serious problem that was interfering with any kind of normal social interaction. What made things worse is his own father would cover for him therefore the issues weren't properly addressed for the necessary help he needed causing him to become increasingly delusional. Unfortunately the only major consequence from his behavior left him in a state where nobody could do anything to straighten out his life. He was only 15 and not even close to being smart or responsible enough to solve this on his own. It was hardly Kyle's fault and it's tough to put the blame on anybody else for such a deep and complex issue....

...And I agree, this movie is underrated even with a 7.0 rating. Robin Williams was fantastic in this movie.

reply

What exactly was his deep complex issue? That he was a horny 15 year old?

"David Carradined himself" - This comment deserves some kind of award.

"Bingo!"

I'm with you, man. (Spoilers ahoy) I can't say that the worse person I ever met even comes close to the apocalyptic asshattery this kid possessed. I personally found comedy in his death. I actually laughed at the scene of him having asphyxiated himself while masturbating...a fitting end if I do say so myself. And Lance crying in front of the porn rack and the dude just walking over and putting a hand on his shoulder like 'I feels ya broz!' that was awesome.

All in all, it was a good flick. I don't think it was meant to be taken seriously or applied to real life as it's a movie. People are taking too deep of meaning from it to try and apply it to their own lives. All the acting in this flick was great.

I've encountered hundreds of people just as nihilistic and degenerate as Kyle, except in real life they tend to hide behind the anonymity of the internet.

All the folks I've met face-to-face that were douchenozzles like this either had physical qualities to back up their turgid personalities, or knew when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. Never met anyone in real life who was just a reckless bag of hatred with zero skills in self-preservation.

reply

Yeah he was a real class A douchebag.

Imagine the type of man he would have grown into if he had lived? The kind of person that thinks Roofie's are acceptable. The kind of guy that would show no respect to anyone, kicked out of college, going on dates that go nowhere after the first because he's too busy making disgusting comments and insulting women and then wondering why he can't get a girlfriend. He's the kind of guy that would get nowhere and go nowhere and then complain because he can't get a girl. He's the UC Santa Barbra shooter personified. Never would have gone anywhere.

That was kind of the point.

Yep. So much so I couldn't actually finish watching the movie. Got 20 minutes through and was so disgusted I had to stop. Sorry Robin.

reply

Agreed. For me, he's one of the most unlikable and unpleasant characters in recent film history.

reply

I didn't like him at first, but he grew on me a little bit.

(why is this a comedy?

B/c it had some genuinely funny parts. I especially enjoyed how everyone pretended to like the kid. I was just talking about how I hate when we all pretend dead people were better than they actually were. So it was funny to see that in a film.

reply

I hated that kid too. I guess the actor is really good because he was awesome at making annoying ass faces and saying everything in the most cringe worthy voice possible.

And what was up with the perpetual sweating and looking overheated thing? Goddamn. The movie did a great job at making me despise him.

He didn't have one redeemable thing about his character or personality. I think the movie wanted you to be happy that he was dead although sad for Robin because you no matter what, parents will always miss their kids.

But yeah, good film. Don't turn off the movie either just because you hate the kid, he's not in most of it and you are supposed to hate him.
