Great little horror film!

I've read almost every review out on this...and aside from like 2...most everyone says it's poor all around! I have to disagree! I found nothing wrong with the acting at all! The costumes were good (one reviewer said they looked like something out of king kong! What the hell is wrong with king kong?) ! The gore scenes are awesome and the pace is not slow at all! The score takes some getting used to, but in it's own right is unique! Aren't we tired of seeing the same old *beep* anyway? This movie is fresh as far as horror movies go...it's a million miles away from The Hills Have Eyes! It's just a different type of movie! I do have to agree with the reviews on one point..and I've racked my brain over it and still can't figure it out! The blurry cinematography! At some points it looks like reverse Depth of Field! For those of you who have seen The Girl Next Door (which was shot by the DOP) you can understand my confusion! That movies shots are tight and crisp! Not a blur in sight! So what gives on this film? The only thing I can figure is either they are 2nd unit shots, or Mr. Miller had someone else filming during those scenes (maybe an intern or something).
But that's just nit picking! Texas Chainsaw Massacre wasn't completely in focus at all times either!
So ignore the critics reviews and just enjoy a good horror movie with some friends!

I agree this was a great horror film.

I actually thought the score in this was a lot like the original TX Chainsaw Massacre. Hard to describe...

Pollyanna McIntosh's performance was incredible.

I didnt like this movie, but I thought the whole part where Steven picks up the hitchhiker was hysterical.

Doesn't come close to Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Hills have Eyes or Cannibal Holocaust. The acting in all those movies were pretty terrible, but compared to this it's Oscar material. And when they were made it was original and new, with this movie I've seen everything done better before. Yawn.

I'm just going to agree with the OP. This is a neat little horror movie.

I watched The Woman earlier this year and learned that this preceded it. I knew it was apparently panned by a lot of people, but it was a fun little movie to watch at 4am. I'm also interested in the idea of feral people living right outside of modern society, so that helped.

There was no back story to get behind which made the violence seem extraneous. Why did all this occur? Everything about this movie was middling to poor.
