When Is This Movie Going To Finally Come Out?

I've read so much about this movie and yet no where do I see a release date. I even read on facebook that this movie was the most popular trailer on itunes. I know the vampire-esque theme is all in vogue right now and the trailer is spectacular but why no date? Did we miss it? What gives?

reply

No, it says it's still in post-production on imdb. It's debatable if Jacob is a vampire because it doesn't specify in the plot synopsis, but his appearance does make me curious.

reply

Vampires don't stand in direct sunlight, like Jacob does in the trailer.

reply

Good point, but the only reasonable exception I think would be Blade.

reply

But he does have a pale enough complexion to portray a vampire's deathly form.

Yea feels like I've been waiting an eternity for this movie. All the post-prod must mean amazing SFX.

Very excited.

The CGI is quite good but it can't be excellent, it's a low budget production, unfortunately.

If this movie has been in post production for so long and if the effects in the trailer speak to anything, this can't be low budget. Visual effects are the most expensive part of a budget and no low budget film ever has the money for visual effects. The movie 300 spent almost no money on it's cast and crew and reportedly about 90% of it's 65 million dollar budget on effects. Spider Man 2's budget lists 65 million dollars spent on visual effects while only 30 million went to it's cast, 5 million to music, and so on.

Nods. All of the bigger budget movies now spend at least a year in post-prod. I just found out I think that Ghost Rider 2 just finished shooting. So literally its going to be a year of post-prod.

So whether Cries actually has a gigantic budget or not, with the time they are spending on post prod its going to be amazing..

But also I've seen completed movies get hung up over stupid political stuff. But it isn't like there's some giant lawsuit stopping the movie from being released.

Cameron often went back to Fox and demanded additional years to work on Avatar. He delayed the release by a year at one point, demanding that IMAX build more screens for the official release, before he was to deliver it to the public. I don't think most people understand the extreme complexities and money that goes into visual effects and the post production process, as a whole.

maybe it's the MPAA and the rating. Harvey Weinstein went into arbitration over both "The King's Speech" and "Blue Valentine." Those movies wouldn't have played as wide, especially Blue Valentine as it had an NC-17 rating at first.
