I think both Claire and Dan died...

I am pretty sure if you watched the movie you'd remember the scene where Claire was driving and the next thing they wake up in the middle of nowhere and how everything in the car was mess when they woke up. My theory is that they died when she was driving and apparently they got a second chance at each other.I felt that they both were looking for true love and their destiny was to be together but only in another reality. Even during the spreading of ashes towards the end of the movie, that girl I think her name was Eve said that she believed in second chances.

Now I know I am stretching it but maybe the director wanted to subtly indicate that they were given a second chance as things might not have worked out in the reality before they died but in the reality after they died even though Claire left with Eric, eventually they separated and finally Claire and Thom (Dan) were together.

Overall a good movie to watch at 3:00 am on Saturday.
