The TV

I for one would be ecstatic if a guy bought me a TV so we can cuddle in bed and watch old movies. Carrie was so ignorant.

I didn't get it ether. Big saw how much she enjoyed it in the hotel room, so he bought one, I thought it was sweet. Her reaction was way over dramatic, even for her.

I just don't agree. I think anniversaries require special, personal gifts. She gives him a vintage watch with a sentimental engraving. He gives her a TV? I'm not usually on Carrie's side, but on this one, I'm with Carrie.

Of course anyone would love a nice TV, but Big has lots of money. He could have bought a TV for the bedroom at any other time. How on earth is a TV for the bedroom a personal gift for Carrie? A TV for the bedroom is a gift for the household. It was not a personal gift for Carrie, and certainly not appropriate for an anniversary gift.

Trust me, if you have ever been through something like this, you would know the difference. For my 18th birthday present my parents bought me new carpeting for my bedroom. That was very nice and I loved the new carpeting, but it was not a present for ME. I left and went to college, but the new carpeting stayed in their home. That was never a present for me. It was a home improvement present to themselves.

I am much older now, but I still remember the hurt and disappointment of my 18th birthday.

FYI to everyone out there....birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, and Valentine's Day need to be special, personal gifts. That's only 4 gifts per year. I don't think that's too much to ask. The gifts don't need to be expensive. They just need to be something special and personal to the receiver.

Did you even bother to try to understand what she was saying? She's not saying to be ungrateful.

reply

Carrier is seriously infantile through the entire series and movies. I wish she would grow up.
