Spike Lee must have been smokin a joint

Wow...that was bad. I am a huge basketball fan and even I thought that sucked. All I could think about was how much I would rather watch a real basketball game. What did this have over a live game? NOTHING. This is what you can expect from this pile:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
We get a 1 year old completely obsolete game, with normal camera angles replaced by obnoxious kobe only cams making the flow of the game near impossible to follow. Oh and the game ends up being a blow out.

We get a Kobe Bryant voice over, which only makes me realize how good regular commentators are. Kobe's delivery was confusing, flat, completely devoid of personality, and surprisingly non-enlightening as far as to what goes on from a players point of view. It was also completely gutless in that he never was critical of anything. All I heard about was how great everything is: all his teammates, all the spurs players, bowen's defense, the game, apparently everything on a basketball court is just peachy. I think he even liked the stink of gasols sweat. Oh I forgot, he hates turnovers! So edgy!

We get an annoying Spike Lee esque soundtrack that really doesn't fit.

We get annoying camera work and black and white still shots right before kobe is generally about to miss, fumble the ball, or commit a turnover.

We get no real insight into what goes on in the locker rooms or in the huddle because they are too busy just showing us footage of kobe running his trap. I think if I can't sleep tonight I might just loop Kobe audio.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The funniest thing to me was how bad of a game this was. I don't care what anyone says, if you could dive into Spike Lee's mind you know he wishes he picked a more interesting game. Because after that first quarter I bet a large chunk of viewers are going to turn this thing off. If this were your first exposure to Kobe, you would be like, "What makes this guy so good?" I think they should have pulled the mic off of him at half time and given it to parker or gasol, who seemed to be having much better games. Whatever the case, next time maybe Spike should stay away from the joints while he's making one. Or just call it a FREAKING MOVIE!!!!

a more interesting game ?

it was the Western Conference Best Record Clincher and there second to last game of the year

spurs and lakers had the same record playin for home court advantage

Right but in this type of movie where the game is a year old, the circumstances surrounding the game are practically meaningless, especially if it takes place in the regular season. We aren't watching to find out where the Lakers ended up being seeded. (at least I wasn't) We are watching to see Kobe put on a show, and he didn't seem to be doing anything all that spectacular. And to compound the problem, the game wasn't compelling and didn't have an interesting finish. End product - boredom. But yeah, the Lakers get home court advantage. Yay.
