Proof why players don't like Kobe

Finally got to see "Kobe Doin' Work" yesterday. I like Spike Lee a lot but don't care one way or the other about Kobe, although I'm aware enough to know he's a terrific player. I'd always heard that Kobe isn't particularly well liked by teammates or opponents, but I never knew why. After watching this documentary, I do now.

Kobe doesn't shut up the entire movie. He doesn't shut up the entire game. He doesn't even shut up to let his coach speak for the 15 minutes they're in the locker room at halftime. The guy is a monumental, conceited bore, and you can tell by the look on his teammates' faces throughout the entire documentary that they're tired of hearing him run his mouth. He seriously talks more than a high-school girl at lunchtime. I lost count of the number of times during the game he called for the ball, only to be ignored.

Sorry Spike, but if you were attempting to make a film that would reveal Kobe as a humble player and a likeable teammate, you failed. But only because of the subject you were working with, not because of your directing ability, which is considerable and worthy of far more interesting subjects.

Oh god.shut up..you people think to much...Kobe's awesome...who gives a s**t if people like him or not..he's a winner. What makes him unique is what you see in this video and that's why he's so good..Just cuz he aint liked by alot of people doesn't make him a bad person. Everyones jealous...The Whole Nba wish they had the talent he has

Nine words in and you sound like a complete fool already. Yea, shame on the OP for using his brain. We should all be like you and not analyze things, right? Let's take everything at face value and not worry about anything else right?

"What makes him unique is what you see in this video and that's why he's so good.."

And what exactly is that? I knew he was a good basketball player already, this documentary didn't help show me a single thing about his game, or why he is as good as he is.

Maybe instead of telling people to think less... You should just think more. Crazy idea, I know.

You pretty much open and shut your argument by admitting that you've "heard" x about Kobe then tried to validate what you've heard by observing. Your predisposition to think one way biased your observations.

I could go into details but I don't have to. I know all you're going to do is cite this specific moment and that instance of inattention in the film. As fake as he comes off (and he comes off extremely fake at times) to declare what you've declared with as much evidence as you have is pretty inane. Hey, let's go judge wars by war films, let's go judge countries by foreign flicks, let's go judge Kobe by watching one game of the 200+ games he has played in the past two years.

Kobe Bryant is a flaming douchebag. Watching him play in the finals this year was disgusting, as he blamed all of his mistakes on poor officiating and his teammates. Yea, they won. He's a very talented player. Nobody denies that.

Who cares if nobody likes him? Well let's see.. Just because you can "get the job done" or "win" doesn't mean that's the be all and end all of things. A long time ago how you play took the backseat to winning as ludicrous amounts of money got spent on these guys. That's an entirely other argument, but it's funny to contrast Kobe and Lebron, because one of them has a winning personality and the ability to be humble and likeable (and imo will wind up with many more rings than Kobe) and one of them is a megalomaniacal solopsist who rapes girls. I hope he enjoys getting it from behind as much as he likes giving it, because he will not beat the Cavaliers or even the Blazers this coming year.

reply

Nope, not a rapist - check again, he wasn't convicted. But that fact will sadly continue to escape a lot of people like yourself. And don't get me wrong, I'm all for humility and likability in our sports stars, but since when was winning NOT the ultimate factor that defined professional athletes?

LeBron, a winning personality? A certain walk-off at the end of a recent playoff series springs to mind, not to mention the whole dunk-tape confiscation fiasco. If people are going to put Kobe under a microscope and enlarge his faults (and yes, I will be the first one to admit that there are many), might as well do the same for the so-called King!

Yea and OJ wasn't convicted of being a murderer. Kobe and all other sex offenders can eat *beep* and die for all I care.

'MCDRLx' I couldn't have said it better myself! I'm a fan of both players (super Lakers fan) but they both have their own less than stellar issues to deal with. In all honesty, it can't be easy living with your every move (on and off the court) analyzed and dissected.

reply

ok back to basketball. i'm sure a lot of his teammates over the years haven't always liked him but the talking on court and during timeouts and halftime is exactly what a great leader and teammate should do. i'm not saying kobe is the greatest teammate or leader all the time but he certainly showed a lot during this movie.

reply

While you may be correct in the fact that both Kobe and LeBron have their faults, I would say Kobe's are a little worse. LeBron is only known for being a sore loser, which is an on-the-court issue only. Kobe, on the other hand, is known as being an adulterer, which is a far bigger issue.

reply

Yea, not to get technical, but his semen was found with like 8 other guys' semen in this girl. At the very least he is an adulterer or dishonest about him and his wife being swingers or some crap. And the Lakers won again this year. When was "winning" not the ultimate goal in sports? I think the ultimate goal of sports is to play fair, exercise, and show sportsmanship. When you bring that to a national level (with great power comes great responsibility), you should really play fair, really exercise, and really show sportsmanship. The idea is that if you do these things, your team will win. In my estimation, winning is number 4, and that was a very quick list.
