Shading Garcelle Beauvais. Holly & Leah come for Wendy.

I know I'm late y'all but on Wed I was  &  when Wendy threw shade at Garcelle for being a host on a TV show called Hollywood Today Live.

Start @ 21: 40

http://youtu.be/7DZRxjJNB6c

Dayum Wendy so shady sayin "when it get a lil bit not sad but a lil bit disheartening to me is when it seems like you're scraping for the spotlight like I love Garcelle Beavais". #shady #wendyfrontinlikeshecareaboutgarcelle

What got me really tight is here go Wendy sayin "weird to me you're on a show talkin about pop culture when you're supposed to be an actress". 

Really Wendy??? You ain't Kathy Griffin but you still tryna do standup. You ain't Michael Kors but you still on HSN tryna sell your clothing line. You ain't Terry McMillan but you still tryna write books. You ain't Tony Robbins but you tryna be a motivational speaker. Hell you ain't Garcelle but you tryna be an actress. 

Y'all I ain't ever knock Wendy hustle but for her to tell another celebrity to stay in they lane?? #negropleez

I don't watch Garcelle show but I saw on Twitter that she reply to Wendy. If I find a clip I'ma post it.

reply

 Preach, Jacqui! I watch Hollywood Today Live and they talked about Wendy yesterday. Garcelle said that she loves Wendy and didn't take her comments as shade, but she originally wanted to be a talk show host when she first got into the business. Her acting career took off and now she's finally able to do her dream job and still spend lots of time with her little boys and act on the side. She said she's been on Wendy's show before and would love to come back. Here's the clip: www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRdYGXroMmI.

Since Holly and Rodney skipped Wendy's show while promoting their reality show, I guess Wendy feels comfortable dissing them again. Earth to Wendy, clearly there is a place for non-ratchet family reality shows. Their show is on OWN with similar programming. It's fine if it's not her cup of tea but damn! She acts like the Peetes did something to her.

Don't eva let nobody tell you you ain't strong enough

reply

@rmcrae thx girl! Garcelle as expected kept it classy. I like what they said about Whoopi Latifah Ellen doin talk shows. Gonna DVR the show just to see Garcelle. My family usually watch access Hollywood live in the am so it'll be nice to see somethin diff. And girl u need to get out my head cuz i was  when she talk about for peetes sake. Wendy know full well that holly was feelin some type of way last year when Wendy dis their show AND WENDY HADNT SEEN 1 EPISODE. Wendy knew holly and her mom came for her on twitter so I thought she would never talk about holly and her family again. But What did Wendy do?  I only seen 2 eps but holly show is sweet & I love me some RJ! 

reply

No problem, Jacqui.  Hollywood Today Live is a fun show and Garcelle is an excellent host.

I love Holly and Rodney's show too. RJ has come such a long way since his diagnosis and it's important that other families with autistic kids can witness it and have hope for their own. 

Normally I totally wouldn't defend Wendy's unwarranted trash talking but I gotta say I agree with her based on her actual words:

by Wendy

"Holly, Rodney, You know I love you Peetes. I tried but I got to tell you something. There's no place on TV anywhere it seems for shows like this," she explained. "The bar has been risen. Ms. Peete is 80 years old, she's dating, she's cute but nobody cares. Holly's got the cute kids with Rodney. They've been married forever, but I don't think people care," she continued. "That's sad for us, for TV watchers. Not for people who try to keep it together and be family and be good examples. That's all."

Just like with Garcelle, Wendy is totally praising Holly and her family saying that they are too good for this genre that's successful bc of trashy ppl like the Kardashians, the RH cast and Honey Boo Boo. I know Holly's putting out an ultra positive message but like Wendy said reality TV is totally NOT about this type of you know "feel good" family fare. I'm glad Holly stuck up for herself but her irritation with Wendy is totally misplaced. It really should be directed at society in general.

I'll have to find the clip and set up the link later, but when Wendy first talked about Holly and Rodney's show a few months back, she went very much out of her way to bash it. The show hadn't even aired yet and she said it would be corny, boring and another "stinker" for OWN. I don't know what the ratings are, but I'd imagine it's doing decently well and there are many other successful shows of its ilk on the network. Welcome to Sweetie Pie's, Deion's Family Playbook and Raising Whitley, to name a few. Yes, Wendy made a good point about viewers lapping up ratchet reality TV over more positive programming, but it wasn't coming from a genuine place in regard to Holly's show and she would've been better off not bringing it up in the first place.

That was harsh of Wendy to say sight unseen but it's natural, too. We hear a concept for a new TV show or movie that's currently filming and our initial reaction is a frown, a wince or en eyeroll. Totally unfair I know but we're human and it's in our DNA to behave in that manner.

Haven't seen any of them but it sounds like niche TV to me, which is totally fine and Holly's show I guess blends well with them.

I'm not convinced in the least that it's some personal thing against Holly. I think it's just that Wendy is "ratchet" like the core reality TV audience. It's like she's saying what is a nice wholesome family like The Peetes doing in the gutter of all TV genres. Same with Garcelle. She could be doing TV or movies but instead she's on a gossip show with some F-List cohosts. I agree with Wendy that it's totally not a good look.

LJ, it's not like people weren't thinking that when the news broke that Holly and her family were doing a reality show. Even I was skeptical. Don't get me wrong bc I know why Holly's doing it but it seems to me that the second reason (after promoting autism awareness) was that Holly needed a job. She's not acting much so she's turned to reality TV which is kinda sad IMO.

By Peggy

For those with biracial family members: I gave Garcelle's children's book I Am Mixed to my nieces and they loved it. (sidebar: Taye Diggs' Mixed Me is equally good).

Hmmm, idk. For my daughter, I'd want a mixed race children's book written by real authors or at least a pediatrician. I don't trust celebrity written books bc I think it's more about money and fame rather than actually trying to put out noteworthy work.

Wendy has the right to roll her eyes at the premise of a show if it's not her cup of tea, but the way she went out of her way to bash a show that said from jump that it would simply follow the everyday lives of Holly and her family was OTT. There are no gimmicks or storylines patterned after those found on the Real Housewives or the Kardashians. I would roll my eyes right along with Wendy if there were.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Garcelle doesn't gossip or at least not like Wendy does. She doesn't care that her co-hosts are F-Listers or that folks like Wendy think taking the job is beneath her, because she wants to do it and is happy where she is. As for Holly, she and her family could've done a reality show on any network at any time, but they chose to do it on OWN because not only is Oprah a personal friend, they know her channel does not play in the muck (if you know what I mean ). I think if you watched even a clip of their show, you wouldn't find their decision sad. Wendy doesn't give a crap about either of these women. She just wants to put them down like she does most women.

I disagree that Wendy was doing that but I totally get why you'd think that.👌🏾

Yep but it's totally np.😀

Gotcha but it's too bad bc Garcelle's actually a good actress and I could totally see her starring in her own show like Kerry, Taraji and Gabrielle. If she likes it on that gossip show I love it.👏🏾

Just watched a clip and it's not, to use your words, my "cup of tea". 😇 I agree with Wendy in that Leah's show, which I haven't seen, would be better bc Leah's got an edge. Holly's totally sweet and a good role model but as an actress she just reminds me of all the bad sitcoms she was in when I was growing up. I guess that's the real reason why I winced at her having a reality show. But hey if people love it and it's helping special needs families that's totally awesome!! 👌🏾

Wendy doesn't give a crap about either of these women. She just wants to put them down like she does most women.

Ding ding ding now THIS we can totally agree on!!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Thx for the pix, LJ. My daughter is Cree is light-complected and has similar hair to Garcelle's adorable kids. They're so cute!😄😄😄

By Peggy

I think your girl Mimi would be the perfect celebrity to pen a book on growing up biracial.

Srsly? I totally disagree. Mariah never came across as biracial to me even though I know she is. Always seemed to be all about her black side. Nothing wrong with that (tho I was dismayed that MC embraced in particular hoodrat culture) but I think Lenny Kravitz would be a better author bc his biracial experience is more balanced. That's what I want for my daughter. She'll be equally exposed to her Irish and Bajan sides.

Mariah has always been open about being biracial and having a white mother and black/Venezuelan father and getting a lot of grief for never "picking a side". A lot of people criticized her love for hip hop in the late 90's like she was trying to "claim" her black side, but last time I checked music has no color. I think Lenny Kravitz would make a good author. 

Was never a fan (Alanis Morissette was my idol growing up) but Mariah just seemed so "hoochie-fied" which totally made me not warm up to her. I so know she can sing but back when I was younger all I heard and saw more of was Mariah in totally skimpy clothes and hanging out with rappers. Sorry I misjudged her but she did IMO give the impression that she was "picking a side".

Totally!👌🏾 His balanced life as a biracial person is what I so want for my daughter and is something that I will ensure happens. 🙏🏼

I've that happen to me too. Not being mistaken for a nanny though.

No one ever thinks that I habla espanol or mistake me for the nanny (even though I'm brown-skinned and my daughter is mocha-toned) but a lot of times people think I'm from Canada, the UK or France. They just totally don't find me to be American which is so baffling since my accent is clearly a US one. My bf jokes that it's bc I'm Bajan and how among West Indians we're the most British. LOL 🙋🏿

By Peggy

Oh, I haven't been mistaken for the nanny but an elderly white woman did ask me "what agency do you work for?" This was 5 years ago. I was at Bloomingdale's. There was this hat rack. The woman was short and the hat she wanted was way up top. Saw her struggling, asked which hat she wanted and retrieved it for her. She (I'd say in her early 70's) thanked me, I smiled, wished her well and started to leave. "What agency do you work for?", she asked. She saw my confusion. "I can call your agency and give you a good recommendation. What family do you work for?" I politely declined, walking away thinking "it's 2011 and this sh*t still happens". (sigh)

O.M.G. 😳 Peggy, the lady mistook you for a maid?! Why??!! What gave her the impression? How were you dressed? There's totally nothing wrong with being a maid but it's just weird just out of nowhere the lady would ask you such a question. You said Bloomingdale's - did she seem upper middle class or rich? If she was maybe that's why she thought you were a maid. You said she was old so prolly in her mind she was doing a good deed tho not realizing that she offended you. This story is totally nuts. Sorry that happened to you!👎🏾

DarylsDaughter, to answer your questions:

1) I think being age 70+ acclimated her to viewing all African-American women as housekeepers.
2) Head to toe, I was wearing professional business attire (popped into Bloomie's during my lunch hour).
3) I'll say the elderly woman was upper middle class. If she was rich, she would've been down the street at Bergdorf's.

 I never watched that season of Celebrity Apprentice, but Wendy kept me informed on what was going on. A mess!

"Yassssssssss esp when Raeven was on. And it totally wasn't just HWMC. In middle and high schools Holly was on just a lot of lame sitcoms. All kind of a blur but yep they were bad."

I remember a few that barely lasted a season. I know landing The Talk was a sweet gig that made it possible for her to work while also spending time with her kids, but we all know how that ended. Damn you, Sharon and Chenbot! 

Rockin' to that Jagged Little Pill, were ya? So was I. My idol was Gwen Stefani. Girl, that blonde hair, the midriff bearing tops and the bindi gave me LIFE!  Back to Mimi, you definitely weren't alone in thinking that. It did seem weird that this woman who was more wholesome and adult contemporary-friendly flipped the script by ditching her clothes and hooking up with rappers. By "hooking up" I mean collaborating of course.  If she'd had her way from the beginning, she would've worn a bikini in the Vision of Love video. That's one thing I'm glad Tommy Mottola vetoed. Inspirational songs and bikinis don't really go together.

Whaaattt? You mean you don't totally remember the classic 00's show Like Family?!?! Shame on you.😜 Yep TT was never the same for me after HRC & LR were fired. And I totally never liked Sharon after that. What a witch.😡

My idol was Gwen Stefani. Girl, that blonde hair, the midriff bearing tops and the bindi gave me LIFE! 

She's awesome but I totally prefer No Doubt Gwen. Solo Gwen not so much but that's cool you were into her collabos and Harajaku girls.

And he's good friends with another famous biracial person, Cree Summer. Cree's your daughter's name, right? It's cute.

She rocks and lots of ppl that know who she is think I named my daughter after her which is so not the case. I'm a 1/4 Native American on my mom's side and they're part of the Cree tribe from Montana. Always liked the name, its simplicity and connection to my heritage. Niamh (pronounced Neev) is her middle name in honor of her Dad's Irish roots.

 Maybe they think you're the opposite of Madonna. 

LOL.👏🏾 Madge (what they call her in the UK) is totally annoying, phony and ridiculous with that. I mean my bf is Irish Irish (like actually born and raised there Irish) and I totally never feel the need to put on an accent with him or our Irish, English, Scottish and Welsh friends. Hello Madonna you're from Detroit!!😛

Well Peggy I have to totally disagree with you there. Yep RMC is awesome but LJ AKA "Jacqui" was so disrespectful to me revealing my real name and then calling me bipolar, saying that I was suffering from PPD, which actually is true. I was so mad and offended that I had to leave the board for awhile. As for me being "serious and headstrong" well you're totally basing that on one topic and this was one where we so didn't agree. On anything. Peggy I totally don't think that's fair to me bc its isolating my personality to one discussion, one in which you, too, were so combative as if you were determined to win the argument. There's so much more to me than talking about Aretha vs today's singers. Hope you can see that!!!🙏🏼

I've been watching Holly and Rodney promoting their show on all the talk shows (sans The Talk obviously) and it's making me miss her in daytime all over again. I would've loved to see her and Aisha Tyler together on TT.

"She's awesome but I totally prefer No Doubt Gwen. Solo Gwen not so much but that's cool you were into her collabos and Harajaku girls."

Girl, I grew up with ND Gwen and that's the one I idolized. I love solo Gwen, but not as much as when she was with the band. Tragic Kingdom was the first CD I ever bought and I still listen to that original copy. Doesn't even skip which is odd since I played the crap out of it. LOL.

"She rocks and lots of ppl that know who she is think I named my daughter after her which is so not the case. I'm a 1/4 Native American on my mom's side and they're part of the Cree tribe from Montana. Always liked the name, its simplicity and connection to my heritage. Niamh (pronounced Neev) is her middle name in honor of her Dad's Irish roots."

That's sweet and I like the way you paid homage to both you and your husband's roots. 

"LOL. Madge (what they call her in the UK) is totally annoying, phony and ridiculous with that. I mean my bf is Irish Irish (like actually born and raised there Irish) and I totally never feel the need to put on an accent with him or our Irish, English, Scottish and Welsh friends. Hello Madonna you're from Detroit!!"

One of my friends who used to be a big Madonna fan used to say that. "Bitch, you from Detroit! Quit fakin'!"  Eve the rapper married an English guy and although she didn't pick up an accent, she does catch herself using English terms. Like instead of "standing in line" she'll say "standing in queue" and "boot" for "trunk". That, I understand though.

Yep it would've been totally interesting to see their dynamic but I remember when Aisha was a guest and she seemed kind of cold towards Holly which was weird to me.😒

Thx.😄 We have 2 trips planned for the Fall. One to take Cree to Ireland so she can meet family for the first time and then my Mom's side in both Great Falls, MT as well as Calgary, AB, which is 5 hrs away. We'll save Barbados (Dad's roots) for a break from winter next year.

Yep this I can totally relate to! My bae Eoin (Owen in Gaelic) still uses Irish terms eventho he's been in the States for 10.5 yrs. I don't use them normally but if his family or friends visit I will only so I don't have to translate. Like calling a liquor store "an off-licence" or the cupboard "the press" or a Band-Aid "a plaster". I'm so not doing it to show off but I'm just too lazy to explain so I use terms they'll recognize.😄

I could be wrong but it was all in the body language and the hug. There was something totally standoffish on Aisha's part. And it's not like they haven't been around each other. I've seen pix of them at Alfre Woodard's annual Sisters In Hollywood (or whatever it's called) event, which is always a lot of fun, according to two of my faves Carmen Ejogo and Tessa Thompson. 💁🏿

I don't know if you've been to Ireland but there aren't a lot of POC there. In Eoin's university, there was only 1 black girl in the whole college. One! You never feel any hostility but away from big cities you get a lot of friendly double takes. Anyway, Cree to my bae's family will be extra special bc she's the 1st grandchild.😀 Calgary will be a diff experience bc on one day we'll be going to a reservation for a traditional Native blessing from my aunt and uncle.🇨🇦

I might have to use that "off-licence".

Had never heard of the term until 10 yrs ago when I met Eoin. To me & maybe I'm being totally American it just doesn't match liquor store. Yeah "the cooker" being the stove I get but off-licence was confusing. Then bae explained that pubs have a licence to sell alcohol. When you're an off-licence you're not a pub/cafe/restaurant but you can sell alcohol. I'll quiz you on that later in the week.😛

 The last Blockbuster near my neighborhood closed over a year ago and now it's a First Choice ER. I hadn't been there to rent videos or DVDs in years, but it made me a little sad seeing it shut down. I loved renting Super Nintendo and Playstation games there too.

I did see Purge Anarchy. Carmen and esp Zoe Soul were good. Carmen deserved an Oscar nom for Selma. Totally awesome perf! Jordan & Tika Sumpter were good but Carmen stole Sparkle. Tessa should've rec'd a nom for Creed. She slays!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 One last thing about Alfre's annual sister bash. Aisha's always there bc she totally epitomizes why Alfre started it: they salute all types of black actresses. Very inclusive from Kerry, Viola, Loretta Devine, Jurnee Smollett to our UK sisters like Carmen, Thandie Newton, Naomie Harris and my other fave Gugu Mbatha-Raw. Too often when it comes to black women in entertainment it's like if you're not A-List (a totally small freaking group!) you're a nobody. 🙄

So true and that's why functions like Alfre's are so important. The mainstream will focus on a handful of black actresses who've "crossed over" so to speak, but completely ignore the rest.

Exactly. That's why I don't watch entertainment shows or go to those type of sites bc they're gonna talk about Beyonce and Rihanna ad nauseum. Gotcha but babe you should totally try to work on your esses!!! If something is plural, you should so pronounce it with an "s" at the end e.g. Beyond The Lights. Don't take a offense--just totally trying to help.😀 Btw, I totally didn't want to see BTL bc it just seemed like a movie full of ghetto cliches. Was disappointed that Gugu would agree to be in it but I know she's trying to break into Hollywood. If you guys really want to see an awesome performance from Gugu, you have to see her in Belle!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 She stars with the great Brit actors Tom Wilkinson and Miranda Richardson as well as hottie Matthew Goode.👌🏾

OK I didn't see the movie but eventhough Gugu's a friend in my head I was so not interested. Why? bc it's not like it's the first movie about a black female singer and knowing Hollywoood's total love of stereotypes it won't be the last. I know Gugu's trying to break into Hollywoood BUT she's got to make smart choices like Kerry and Viola. They totally own their roles and they're the HBIC!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

And Gugu and Nate made me believe they was a couple.

Boris would've been better but he's a setback bc he's so not that good of an actor. For me Jesse Williams or Michael Ealy would've been an ideal match for Gugu but that's just me.🙋🏿

Uh excuse me, Jacqui. Are you accusing me of being color-stricken?! I hope not but by posting a link to a pic of dark-skinned actor insinuates that you think I am. While I didn't see BTL, I know it has a love story component. IMO, Gugu and Nate just don't look like a couple. I was totally by no means saying that Nate wasn't good enough for her. In clips and on their Wendy interview, I just didn't pick up on any chemistry. That's all. For the record--my bae might be white as is 50% of our daughter but I am black AND will always be BLACK. 🙋🏿 Oh and btw, I😍Rose Rollins! And girl I ain't braggin it's true cuz the negros I work with always tell me "La your customers were asking for you" or "La I try to help that lady but she said she wait til you come back from lunch".

Kudos, Jacqui, bc it totally sounds like ppl do like you but IMO you as a black person have to be so careful not to sound so subservient. PLEASE don't take this the wrong way but a lot of times white ppl respond better to a black person whom they see as inferior. Now it's not like they don't think you're nice or that you're not good at your job but maybe you're not aware of this??❓

They even clown on me callin me Abeleen from The Help "you is kind you is smart you is important". 

Uh babe that is soooooo not funny. It's 2016 and we've made a lot of progress! Totally surprised you weren't insulted!!😳

The co payin me to help these peeps & I do my job as me Jacqui. You got some nerve sayin that when a lot of peeps incl the negros I work with say I look mean but as soon as I start talkin to them or to the customers they can str8 up see that I'm a friendly person. Jacqui, all I meant is that when you're engaging with your customers, you can totally behave like an equal. The way you post here totally makes me suspect that you probably come off as submissive (like you're catering to them). Yep have confidence, be professional and courteous but you can totally do it without sounding, sorry to say this, like "the help". Just being honest.

Right and I only know you by what you post here so if you sound anything like you do on IMDb then if i was your boss I'd so be a little worried that you're coming across as unpolished.

You got some nerve sayin that when a lot of peeps incl the negros I work with say I look mean but as soon as I start talkin to them or to the customers they can str8 up see that I'm a friendly person.

I'm sure you're friendly but you're totally missing my point. You're not aware how you're coming across to them just like you're not aware of how you come across on IMDb. Babe again just being honest bc I'm sure I'm not the only on these boards who look at your posts and wince.💁🏿

And how do YOU know these white customers don't like me for me??? #girlbye 

I know bc I grew up in a white neighborhood and from K-8th Grade I was one of 3 black kids (twin brothers and me) in my school. I also went to a predominantly white high sch and college. My gf's and bf's have been mostly white and my bae and father of my daughter is white. White ppl are totally drawn to 2 types of POC- 1) the kind they see as inferior (you) & 2) the kind they see as an equal (me). Sadly, 1 is more prevalent w/ older white ppl and you totally may remind your customers of their maid or nanny. Jacqui, I'm not saying it's right but THAT is the reality. With your "blackcent" as you called it, they totally feel comfortable with you bc as you said they're emailing your boss to compliment your job performance. Again I'm not saying you're not friendly or likable but your behavior is more what your clientele is accustomed to whereas they would totally not like me bc they would see me as a threat. Hope that you so get my point!!🙋🏿

@dd if sayin "hello mam how are you?" or "good afternoon sir" or "hi do you need any assistance?" or "thank you for coming. Please come again" is sounding like "the help" then just call me Abeleen! I would rather say those things cuz that is how I was trained AND THAT IS MY JOB than be like the LAZY negros I work with who ignore the customers and if they do approach they pretend to be busy so the customer will go to somebody else. Girl you prolly like that behavior better cuz at least they ain't actin like a maid. 

@dd Negro pleez! My mgr luv me so do my GM and guess what girl? The regional mgr after tellin me that she know I'm a hard worker asked me if I was interested in bein an asst mgr. she didn't offer me the job but she said she thought I'd be a good choice for it. So I guess bein a hoodrat do pay off. 

@dd girl you brand new.  you ain't the 1st to say about my hood style of postin and you ain't the last. If you feelin me you feelin if you ain't you ain't. I really don't care like it don't bother me none that you say totally a lot. I bet you say totally like 5000 times a day. 

I can flip this too. How do you know that these white peeps saw you as they equal? If you were one of only 3 black in the whole school ain't it possible that they were really careful around y'all to make sure that they wasn't accuse of any type of racism? They coulda just played you and the other two blacks just to keep y'all in check but on the real they didnt like y'all cuz y'all were black. I just seen it too many times and it happen to my lil sis also. White peeps tryna act all liberal but they callin you the n word behind your back. That coulda been the case with you but you too proud and feelin yourself too much to even think it was possible. Girl you never know!!!!

You think Wendy will address it tomorrow, Jacqui?

Wendy says

im sure this show will be perfectly cute, it'll be perfectly wonderful and perfectly boring. Well Oprah you got yourself another stinker.

Now y'all this is from almost a year ago & Wendys shady ass hadn't even seen one episode!!!  oh miss Delores Hollys mom said on Twitter that she never managed George clooney. Wendy gettin info wrong AGAIN.

rmcrae she ain't gon talk about it tomorrow but I think she will throw shade @ Leah at some point maybe talk about how Leah's reality show was cancelled. Wendy is such a hater and mad petty too!! 

Yes, Wendy made a good point about viewers lapping up ratchet reality TV over more positive programming, but it wasn't coming from a genuine place in regard to Holly's show and she would've been better off not bringing it up in the first place.

 that's why it made me feel some type of way!!! With both holly and Garcelle Wendy was tryna act all concerned and supportive BUT she was really throwing shade. Ain't nobody can convince me otherwise cuz I know how petty and jealous Wendy is esp of other women.

reply

Thanks, girl! 

You were right about Wendy ignoring Holly, but she didn't shade Leah. She'll have some 'splainin' to do when Leah comes back to promote her reality show in the summer. 

Hilarious and spot-on!!

I completely agree with you! Wendy does this so consistently which is why her motives are always questioned.

IMHO, Wendy was being shady towards both Garcelle Beavais and Holly Robinson Peete. Not that they should be immune to criticism but both actresses have done nothing to warrant Wendy's snide (and not so subtle) digs. I truly believe that including them as recent Hot Topics items was Wendy projecting her own jealousy and unhappiness. If you're aware of Garcelle and Holly's social media presence, they're friends and both share a lot of positivity. Wendy, not so much or more like, never. Hahaha

For those with biracial family members: I gave Garcelle's children's book I Am Mixed to my nieces and they loved it. (sidebar: Taye Diggs' Mixed Me is equally good).

I would've liked having those books growing up. I remember Mariah talking about writing a children's book for biracial kids 10 or 11 years ago and I hope she finally does it.

It's unfortunate, IMHO, that the importance of multi-culturalism didn't really become prominent in the US until President Obama was elected. After 2008, that's when diversity on so many levels became the new normal. I think your girl Mimi would be the perfect celebrity to pen a book on growing up biracial. I always loved the following photo; I believe Mariah was 6 years old:

And staying on topic, here is Garcelle on "The Real" talking about being mistaken for the nanny:

True. I love that pic of lil' Mimi. She included it in the booklet of her #1's record.

Thanks for the Real clip, Peggy. Garcelle is hilarious. "Is there work for me on Telemundo?" I've that happen to me too. Not being mistaken for a nanny though. 

Mariah has always been open about being biracial and having a white mother and black/Venezuelan father and getting a lot of grief for never "picking a side".

Yes, I vividly recall Mariah and her mom, Pat, being on Oprah and discussing this very issue. When I saw Mimi in concert (her first tour), her audience evenly reflected her ethnic makeup, which, IMHO, is a wonderful thing.

A lot of people criticized her love for hip hop in the late 90's like she was trying to "claim" her black side, but last time I checked music has no color.

Mimi broached this topic on Charlie Rose. She said that the European press, in particular, were wondering why she was working with hip hop artists. Can't remember if it was with Charlie or another interview but she had a good comeback: in '99, her label frowned on her recording with Jay-Z; today singers would kill to collaborate with Beyonce's husband. Haha (Sidebar: my French friends, dating back to "Vision Of Love", always thought Mimi was white. But...starting with "Honey", they said in fractured English how Mariah was becoming "urban", hahahahahaha)

Glad you enjoyed it; yes, Garcelle cracked me up as well. Gave Tamar a side-eye, though, because there was a little how-could-that-happen-when-all-nannies-are-Hispanic posturing in her reaction to the story. (sigh)

Here's a clip of it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoY73Cibpbg. I'd like to get an update on both of those girls.

 That was a good comeback. I think Mariah popularized the trend of pop artists collaborating with hip hop artists off of the ODB remix of Fantasy. People would've never put the two together before, but they made magic happen.

Sorry, I'm late to the party, but Mariah had no one to blame but herself. Since, the early part of her career she was hesitant to mentioned her dad was black. She would give this long list of her mixture and then end with Venezuelan.

I'm glad she finally gain some courage to be herself, and if it were others influencing her decision, I'm glad she broke away from that.
