Anyone else think this is like Heat? (spoilers)

Both films are about crews that are taking down scores. Ultimately, the stories are about their last score and how the crews get taken down.

Both crews are made up of 4 people. In this one, the leader doesn't look like Robert DeNiro, but the rest of the crew falls roughly in line. An older guy, a younger guy, and a Latino guy. The family situation of the crew is even similar. The young guy has a fiery relationship with his wife, but it's strong and fires on all cylinders when needed. The Latino guy is totally in love with his lady. The leader of the crew is also a loner.

The detective in this film even looks a bit like Al Pacino.

The plot of this film is much simpler in this film, but it's also an hour shorter than Heat. Yeah, the characters could be developed better, but I think this flick is pretty good for what they could accomplish with their budget.

Speaking of "Heat" and De Niro, now that Robert is getting a little pudgier and grandfatherly, who is going to pick up his mantle and play those strong, loner, mysterious criminal/mercenary characters like the ones he played in "Heat," "Ronin," and "The Score"?

Yes you're right that's a really bad imitation.

No, this is not like Heat. It is "like" Heat in that it features Val Kilmer and stealing but other than that, no. No bank robbery, no showdown with pursuing cops, and most importantly, no major shootout with cops. If you want to call that blip with the Russkies a shoot out, you go ahead.
