Question on a term...

What is a 'fish and chip job'? I know it's not vital to the plot, but just wondering what the term meant. I googled it and all I could find were descriptions of actual f&c jobs. Thanks.

I'm not sure in what context it was used, but it probably means a particular story was big news for a day, then its used to wrap fish n chips.

The flavor I got was that they were saying that particular murder investigation was utterly routine. But I like the other poster's suggestion about it being a one-day wonder whose news stories were then used to wrap the next day's fish&chips.
