So why did Mrs Darrode murder all the kids?

I watched the move and it never said why. Was Mrs Darrode suffering from Andrea Yates syndrome? Post partnum (sp?) psychosis

She was already psychotic, overly religious, and abusive. She completely snapped when she caught the kids burning the Bibles. She had a disease known as effing nuts.

PPS affects mothers pretty soon after giving birth but it can last a while. Darrode didn't give birth, she ran a foster home. She was just insane.
