WHAT? WHAT DID THEY? WHAT DID THEY DO?

OMFG! Why did they do this to Ghost in the Shell? Why, God, why?

Although, I must say I enjoyed the amber-glow of the digital city during the introduction and the high-quality cleaned animation cells looks crispy. But, why, lord, why do this to a sci-fi classic? These people are worse than George Lucas and Steven Spielberg combined!

reply

Have you seen it?

reply

Yes, I watched it last night. How did I receive a copy, you ask? Well, how else? The movie overall looks nice and sharp, but some of the CG scenes are completely out of place, totally unconvincing and ultimately superfluous. I have to give much praise to the revamped sound effects -- they sound far more realistic this time around.

reply

Crap! He pulled a 'George Lucas' on us! LOL
Well, I'll watch it anyway...

reply

Thankfully no CGI song and dance sequences :)

reply

It's not like the original version ceased to exist when this came out. If you don't like it, stick to the old one.

I don't understand this need people have for melodrama...

reply

By that logic, I have the right to defecate in your morning bowl of cereal. Because, hey if you don't like fecal matter in your cornflakes, you can always pour yourself an original bowl.

reply

To amend that crude analogy, it would be more like having two bowls side-by-side, one of which you defecate in, living me free to choose the one I take.

Might I suggest that you cease defecating from the mouth and spend your time more productively?

reply

Yeah, you got me! You win the internet. Lemme go watch an original copy of GITS.

reply

I'd gladly join you. Then I'd go watch the new version too.

reply

HAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHA!

reply

I wish they could just release a BD version of the original that didn't look like a grainy piece of trash. The existence of this version makes it less likely that'll ever happen.

But it's a very bad transfer.

reply

I didn't enjoy the CGI. Not only that it didn't fit the style, but also it just looked bad, like cgi from the 90s. This is 2008? No way.

reply

I saw this blu-ray on the store shelf and got excited - I still have the DVD from the late 90's. But then I scanned the back and it gave me pause. A whole new score? Some new voice recording? Extra 3D effects and some scenes deleted altogether? I have to rent this before buying it now. All I care about is watching it with the Japanese dialogue & English subtitles, because I dislike dubbing. How that soundtrack sounds is what matters. So...how is it?

It was not that bad
