Landmark case rules money = free speech

On January 21st, 2010, in the Citizens United vs. Federal Election Commission decision, the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that "money" counts as "free speech." In doing so, the court declared many existing campaign finance regulation laws unconstitutional, and placed severe limits on what we as a people can do about the toxic relationship between moneyed interests and our elected officials.

The Supreme Court ruling split on Party - that's right, Party - lines.

A libertarian group called Citizens United used "Hillary: The Movie" to take on McCain-Feingold.
