Piggot as a kid (spoilers)

So was lawyer Piggot taken under the chicken coop as a child and knew what had happened? Was he also abused? It stands to reason if his dad was a child-molester that the son was sexually-abused as well.

that's what i got as well. as a kid, his father must've taken him down the chicken coop, prolly like BJ's dad did....or was Laws BJ's father...?

I thin if he was taken down, he repressed it. He seemed to be surprised at what he found when (The Reverend??) knocked him down there. Especially when the flashback was to BJ's experience.

Either that, or the group had some rule about not using their own kids (don't $#it where you eat and all that) to avoid any emotional ties and secondary doubts about what they were doing. Making it anonymous kids means there are no emotional ties to the victims.

Where the kids anonymous to the group of pedophiles? Dunford's girlfriend's little girl was dead and it was suggested that Dawson may have killed her. That's at least one child that they knew. And Laws also knew BJ before he began abusing him.

Laws probably knew more people than the rest, due to his position in the community. I would guess he would have a better advantage at picking out "choice victims" than anyone else. This would mean he probably knew the kids, but had no emotional ties to the majority of them.

Without reading the book or being more familiar with the real case/events, that's all I can surmise.

No, he was never sexually abused. He wasn't even aware of the coop until he investigated there. Based on flashbacks, his father was interested in little girls only.

The reason why he was so messed up was because his father committed suicide, which was strictly a no-no for English northerners. The suicide had instantly made him and his mother outcasts in their community, so they carried shame for years, which was likely to affect his confidence.
