Cops who stormed the Karachi Club -RR in the year of our lord 1983

In the 1st instalment, Eddie Dunford enters the KC, pistol whips Bob Craven, and then shoots BC's colleague (not killed), then shoots John Dawson dead - presumably.

BJ and Clare Strachan are hiding behind the bar, when some masked men (police) come in - 5 of them, which Maurice Jobson comments on in his investigation later - and start shooting, presumably.

Who are they shooting ? as JD is dead, Bob Craven is killed in 1983 and his other colleague is 'only' gravely injured by Dunford?

Cheers

Nick

BTW- Daniel Mays as Michael Myshkin gets my vote for most impressive performance, chilling how vulnerable and exploited his character is.

BTW2 - As regular watcher of tv & movies which are sometimes complex, this is not an easy film to work what is happening as it jumps between time frames in the last instalment with little sign-posting (obvious or not so obvious).I watched the 3 films - 6 hours - back to back, so a lot to take in, and also figure out why dead characters had 'seemingly' come back to life in the last instalment. At times, I was wondering whether BC's death in The Belly or John Dawson's had been faked for some reason. Worked it out in the end, except for above .

This isn't definite or definitive, just my own opinion, however I believe that the masked shooters / cops basically massacred every witness in the Karachi club so the truth concerning the police corruption and sleazy associations would not be uncovered.

In other words: tying up any and all loose ends.
