7 years ago today, my mom took me to see The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

7 years ago today, my mom took me to see The Twilight Saga: New Moon. It was such a great movie and I still watch it when it's on t.v! :)

I wonder why New Moon seems to be the least active of the franchise.

Because there's very little Edward in it. It's the darkest time in Bella's life.

[Edit]

Some readers only read the beginning and ending of the book on reread, skipping the Bella/Jacob stuff.

That's a shame. New Moon introduces many elements that play an important role in the Twilight series: Werewolves, the Jacob/Bella/Edward love triangle, the Volturi.

But I guess it makes sense. Jacob was only ever just filler for Edward.

Yes, it is. I didn't much care for Jacob on first read. I didn't much like Edward either. I've grown to like them both more through rereads and watching/rewatching the movies.

The Volturi parts include Edward, so those parts get read/watched.

In Forever Dawn Jacob has very little interaction with Bella and Edward. His incorporation into the Cullen Coven came at the end of the book, when he lays eyes on Renesmee and imprints on her.

The publishers wanted a trilogy, so they had SM rework the book so there would be enough story for another book. When SM expanded the book, things happened that had Edward leaving to save Bella from vampires, and had Jacob's role become more upfront and center than it originally had been. This is where the controversial triangle comes from. And why Bella and Jacob get off track. Bella is a bit psychic. Not like Alice. If you've read the books, you will have seen how she figured things out before they happened. Anyhoo, her sense that Jacob is a part of her family is due to the fact that he will imprint on Renesmee and become a part of her family. Only she doesn't have it all figured out ... so Jacob, as a wolf who can sense/hear heart rates and nervousness, notices that she does have feelings for him ... despite her protests. And Bella isn't good at knowing how to keep Jacob at arms length without pushing him away. And when she pushes him too far, she then pulls him back in, because he's her family, and she wants him close. Just not _that_ close.

I would love for Forever Dawn to get published, because I want to read Bella's pregnancy from her point of view, and not just Jacob's. But I am very happy that the publishers pushed SM to expand the story. Having Jacob and the wolves more in the story is the best thing to happen to it.

JMHO ... YMMV

Good question! Especially as this film had the biggest box office take out of the lot (after you adjust for inflation). Perhaps in part it is just because folks are more likely to post on the boards of the more recent films, with Twilight being the exception as it's the origin.

In any event, I think New Moon is my personal favourite from the franchise. I only start to lose interest when the story moves to Italy :-)

I do agree. The best parts are the non-Edward parts.

Jacob and Bella had better chemistry since there was a previous relationship to build on. And they actually hung out doing things together.
