unrealistic that the Volturi didn't kill Edward
He clearly wanted to die, and had made it clear that he was a threat to them. Considering the low value they put on life, surprised they didn't end him on the spot. I doubt they could view Edward's life as that sacred, in spite of his power: He wanted to die, was a threat, refused to use his powers for them, and was generally considered an oddball for his vegetarian way of life. I'm sure there are enough vampires to make him not all that special, and they can always make more.
