Plot hole IMO ( spoilers)

When Nick crashed the crew's dinner and talked to the driver, a paranoid guy like Merrimen kept him ALIVE , accepted his bullsh*t excuses and told him his plans?!!

reply

well you gotta keep the hero alive and killing him in a crowded restaurant would be a bad idea too. i'm sure Merriman was thinking of just biding his time, he would get Nick sooner or later.

I'm trying to go for an entertaining, informative youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see and if you have any thoughts or criticisms, i'd love to hear them. Thanks in advance. Review right here- https://youtu.be/7Dw6qyp8cMc

You got me wrong.I was wondering why Merrimen didn' kill the driver after that scene.

****SPOILER ALERT*********

After all all the information about the heist came from the driver. He could very well have been a cop setting them up! it was out of character for that high end crew to take that chance!

reply

You must have walked out before the end.

************************SPOILERS*********************

The DRIVER was the one who came up with the whole plan. He gave all the info/details to Merrimen, he set everything in motion, he was the only one who knew the entire situation the whole time. This is why you see him at the end, with his (real) crew, living the good life.

There are certainly problems with this movie, but that Isn't one of them. . .

That was my point

****************************SPOILERS********************************************************

ALL the information, the plan etc came from the driver on this one. Merrimen and his crew used to do their heist together. Then Big nick shows up. The driver could have been an undercover cop setting them up

I'm pretty sure that'd be a picture-perfect example of entrapment. Even to catch known crooks, that's still a no-no....imagine the litigious repercussions if a bunch of people were to get killed during a robbery that the police set up with the bad guys...that could be a real mess.

But I get your point...they let that go pretty easy, finding out he'd been approached by the cops, regardless of whether he set up the whole thing or not. You'd think they'd have put a tail on him or something...make sure he wasn't in any further contact with them.

reply

Wait what? We went to watch this last night and I didn't catch any of that. Time to re-watch.

reply

me neither, must have been too bored , drunk or tired by that point

Yeah I had a problem with that part of it too. The end of the movie kind of made it less of an issue, but it was still problematic. The director needed to hide the reveal, and that made it necessary for Merrimen to act out of character and accept what was obviously bs from the driver.

It's weird b/c that scene (in the restaurant) was superfluous too. They had the shooting range scene and the sleeping with merrimen's gf scene to show they were knew who each other were.

At times Butler's character gave off a Mel Gibson/Martin Riggs vibe... the angry/crazy sort of guy who can't help but get in the face of the people he's after.

It had echoes of that scene from Lethal Weapon 3, where Riggs and Murtaugh crash the villain's restaurant just to smash it up and piss him off.
