The ancients are the Titans?

I was wonder that, since they said The Ancients were giant gods, just like the titans from the greek myth.

reply

Nope, a tad more simplistic than that. Re-watch the movie and get back to me.

reply

Lol...
The director said it was Kronos and the Titans....

reply

I assumed that the sleeping gods were Lovecraftian.

reply

The gods are us: the audience.

I would say The Ancients of this movie are The Old Ones, that have been described in H. P. Lovecraft's stories and also in Nazi mysticism. Check out this wikipedia article:

reply

Ya, that seems about right.

I thought the Ancients were going to be Cthulhu and his buddies from the H.P. Lovecraft universe. But those don't have human hands.

At least not in any of the dozens of Lovecraft books or stories I read.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

Same here. I'm kinda disappointed instead of a hand, we didn't see a bunch of tentacles come out of the ground.

Let's be bad guys.

At least a creature or two that escaped from the cubes were kinda squid like. Cthulhu influenced at least a few monsters.

I assumed the lead God would be Gozar and the Stay Puft Marshmellow Man would come rising from the pit, and they would try and get him laid since he was a sailor.

reply

Right?
