'I Never Cheated on Ruby in LA'

Anyone else catch that from last week's episode? Denny says he would kiss girls on vacation and that he never (explicative) someone in LA? Meaning that the would (explicative) girls on vacation?

reply

Absolutely. I guess if it's not in the same zip code as your girlfriend then it doesn't count.

I'm glad Ruby's not willing to accept being with anyone who doesn't love her unconditionally.

I caught that. I knew Denny cheated on Ruby the minute I laid eyes on him in the first season. He looks like a cheater, and he sounds like a cheater (annoying voice), cheater is written all over him!

I expect for Ruby not to talk about him so much now. She claims she's over it, I want her to stick to it. And when Ruby is fit, healthy, and even more fabulous, he better not come sniffing around! If he does, I hope she tells him where to go and how to get there.

reply

That is exactly (or "uhzackly" as Ruby would say) what I came here to talk about. That is the only eppy that I have seen so far and I think that it will be the last one because of her dick boyfriend. He is a phony SOB and on a shallow note, I hate his annoying, nasally creeper voice. You can totally tell that he thinks he is coming off as such a great person for dating the fat girl. *beep* him. He definitely does not love her or respect her at all. I could not believe that she thought that she was cheating on him too, but with food. He can justify his screwing around however he wants, he is going to be a jerk no matter what, but that is terrible if she believes it too.

Don't puke in the punch and tell me it's alphabet soup.

I think there was a double meaning there. When he said he never (expletive) someone in LA, I think he also meant that he and Ruby never had sex for the duration of their relationship. I believe he said it a second time and emphasized the "anyone"...

reply

I'm pretty sure that's been mentioned before. I believe she mentioned it on a couple of talk shows as well, that she was saving herself for marriage.

I still find it ... amazing, incomprehensible that they were together for 8 years, lived together and NOTHING sexual happened. Wow. Annoying voice, self-involved or not I would have had to jump Denny at least a couple of times just to preserve my sanity.

Well, Ruby obviously has issues from her childhood, and she chooses not to be an adult.

She's kept herself babified, and her friends have all bought into that.

Denny is possibly gay, but also very wrapped up in Ruby being stuck on him. He's self-centered (observe the Thanksgiving episode where he makes the whole gratitude thing about him and interrupts everyone else).

Ruby is afraid of being an adult woman and she has done everything in her power to prevent getting to the adult woman place.

Maybe this process will help; maybe not.

It's really hard when people make you believe you're a food addict.

It keeps you in a helpless place.

I don't think she's addicted to food.

I think she's "addicted" to keeping her demons at bay.

Which is probably what all "addictions" add up to.

It's about not saying no to your "lizard brain" and just letting it take over to "protect" you.

Thank You. Someone else finally sees through this too. Denny IS gay.Jeff IS gay (yes I said it). Ruby is/was a beard. This entire show is fake. Anyone remember when she went to LA. Jeff and Denny shared a bedroom in that apartment. Or in the hot tub episode. Denny just happened to be "friends" with some creepy old rich guy. GAy Gay Gay Gay. Even her dog knows all these men are gay. And her nephew...please. Had to move out of his parents house because he is allergic to dogs. And what the "Helicopter" does Ruby always have stuffed under her sweaty arm... A Dog. The boy was turning out to be gay and his folks shipped him off to the land of fruits and nuts (aunt Ruby's house).
Felt good to vent.

I hate to speculate about someone I don't even know, but I agree with you. That's the impression that I've had all along.

I was going to post asking about this a long time ago, but then I thought it was not my place to question his orientation. I did wonder why I was the only one who saw this as fairly obvious on the show.

Why would he need a beard? If he's gay, why does he need to hide it?

I don't think that he has a beard. (Some people do, but I am not one of them.)

My interpretation is more in the opposite direction. I think that they just made up the whole relationship for dramatic purposes on the show.

I don't think that anyone on the show is being mislead in their actual lives.
They needed a romantic story line and cast him in it.

<Ruby is/was a beard.>

I've never heard that term before...was gonna ask what it meant, but thank goodness for urbandictionary.
It's also something I'd never considered, as far as Ruby goes. Interesting.

"I never cheated on Ruby in LA"

How can you cheat on someone you're not in an adult relationship with? I'm reminded of my "boyfriend" in 6th grade. I "cheated" on him when I danced with another boy at the scool dance. Are you effin' kidding me? Ruby and Denny are so 6th grade I have to laugh.

And I'm not saying that you have to be having sexual intercourse in order to be in an adult relationship, I'm just saying that you have to move beyond the 6th grade definitions of things.

At the end of the day, this show cracks me up. I find it interesting and inspirational, but also a fascinating study of a woman who stopped developing in her tween years and has surrounded herself with people who love that about her. You go girl! Live in the world you want honey! What do I care? You're having a great time and you're surrounded by friends and you're getting healthier mind and body. Right ON!

This makes a lot of sense, and is exactly what I was thinking.

She has surrounded herself with grown men that are sexually unavailable, which is part of the equation. I'm of the opinion that something involving her being traumatized sexually is at the root of this, which I'm sure a lot of people think too.

And Denny is an as&hole.
