Are there going to be any new characters?

I've ranted about this before, but am I the only one who doesn't like reusing the same characters over and over?

Snake Eyes, Duke, Roadblock, Scarlett, Storm Shadow, CC, Destro, etc are great. But how about some new blood? It's like Transformers which might as well be called the Optimus Prime show nowadays.

One of the cool things growing up in the 80's was waiting for the new Joes to arrive. Now they just put old characters in new uniforms or whatever.

So anyway, I haven't read anything about this series, but are they planning on having new characters? Or is it just the usual gang?

Also, as far as the characters history, is this a continuation of the old series? Or totally new? I mean, are the characters supposed to be in their 50s, or did they ret-con everything?

Sorry for asking so many questions, I just watched it on Adultswim.com.

It's not a series. What you saw on Cartoon Network is it.

Techinically, there WERE two new characters. "Dial Tone" was formerly a man, so I don't think you can count her/him as being part of the "usual gang". Also, Ripcord was changed from a red-headed irshman to a black character to match the Marlon Wayans character that is going to be in Rise of Cobra, unfortunately.

So technically, we got two new characters. Both of them hurt the franchise in my opinion.

Those aren't new characters, they just rehashed old ones.

No, the "characters" are new, it's the names that are being "rehashed" ;)

Actually "rehash" is not the right term. Technically it means to use again without a substantial amount of change or improvement. I'd prefer to call it "bastardizing" myself...
