Is the US release in jeopardy?

I saw in IMBD Pro that Senator Distribution which apparently has the US rights to the Mesrine films is in financial trouble. Does this mean that the US release of the films is in jeopardy?

reply

YES!!!

after three failed attempts to contact them seeking a comment on a recent article they did not return phone calls or even answer a phone in general. things are looking very troubled. the french sales company could if Senator defaults reacquire and then resell distribution rights in the US. stay tuned

Let's hope another distributor (IFC Films or Sony Classics maybe?) will step in. I'm sorry now I didn't get to see this when it played here in New York at a French film festival earlier this year.

I would agree with your statement. There hasn't been a word mentioned recently about Senator releasing the 2 films in the USA.

So what's the deal with this? Is it coming out or not in the United States?

reply

What the hell is going on? Is this coming out or what? HUH?!

Is there anyone out there with an update on this?

I am also looking for an answer! I can't believe it! This is not happening. Unbelievable. I need a drink. Now. I am pissed!!! What's up with that???

Both films were successful in at least some markets in the US, or as successful as a subtitled foreign language film could be. It didn't just play in "arthouse" type theatres.
