Ha Ha !! You really DID insult "The Toxic Avenger" when comparing this garbage to that film!! LOL !!
I was pulled into this waste of film by the high IMDB rating as well. Now, I know IMDB can do very little about the jerk's associated with this film coming to this site and giving "Their Film" a 10, but there should be a way for us to report them.
We IMDB users are a pretty loyal and intelligent bunch and IMDB should give us a little more credit in discerning when a movie is OBVIOUSLY trash and the ratings given are OBVIOUSLY false and submitted either by troll's or the movies producers and associates.
If anything, I think we should be able to report the so called reviews that are obviously falsely submitted by people associated with the movie. I mean...C'MON IMDB!!! This movie had a review that called it "A very powerful Thriller/Horror/Drama" and that the acting was "Superb"!!
ANYONE watching the first 5 minutes or less of this tripe could tell that this is a misrepresentation of the said film and a downright lie.
The "False" reviewer went on to say that the movie was "Very Polished" with an "Incredible cast of veteran actors"!! ....More falsity's
Then the reviewer went on to name all of the UNKNOWN and AMATEUR actors.
Lastly the reviewer said if they could they would give it an 11!! LOL !!
Perhaps a NEGATIVE 11 would be closer to the truth.
When I tried to "Report" this false review, I was encouraged not to, unless the reviewer had violated the so called "Guidelines".
I think that it is high time that IMDB changes those guidelines. So as to make it possible to report these reviews so that they can be removed if proved to be gross misrepresentations of the facts.
IMDB would gain respect in the long run as a review site that movie lovers would be able to COUNT ON, to receive accurate and precise reviews of the films they are interested in seeing, without being worried about being hoodwinked into wasting their valuable time on a terrible film. Like I and the original poster wasted on this very bad movie.

As far as iMDB ratings go, you need to take the amount of votes into account, for any kind of accuracy (heh). What I usually go with is: ratings with roughly 1,000 votes or less are utterly useless... A few thousand votes and it might give some sort of *vague indication*.
Just consider the amount of "Worst movie ever" threads on iMDB's movie boards and you realize most people haven't actually watched very many movies and their votes are based on their relatively narrow view on films.
As the saying goes: Opinions are like a..holes, everybody's got one... Everyone's free to make up their mind as they see fit, but it's something to keep in mind.

Just what I thought of pointing out to OP before I saw your post. This film barely has 300 ratings as of now and the rating has plummeted to 4.1 already. I would wager this movie had less than 50 votes when OP first saw it with a 7.9 and you never trust the first 50 votes because they are mostly from those that created the movie.

I got pulled in by the poster and brief synopsis on hulu. Watching it for the first time right now. So far...not the worst I've seen.
