Brygmophyseter

Brygmophyseter was the genus of sperm whale shown on the episode Deep Sea Killers. What I was wondering was whether or not the creature was in fact able to blast sonar shock waves under water as described by the show? Can anyone provide me with any further info on this? I just kind of find it hard to believe even though we all know that evolution has always produced the most astonishing results.
