Tom on the plane

I just finished watching this exciting series on Netflix and am wanting more!!! Don't suppose we'll ever know why Tom was on the plane...and in the quarantined section. What was he planning to do once the plane landed, and how was he planning to get back to the family? They could have done so much more with this series. I loved the characters and such good acting too.

I just finished watching it on netflix today too. The quarantine area had a handle on toms side - weird I know but they made a point of showing it - so I think he was going to wait until the plane was at full assent and, as he was clearly dying from multiple gunshot wounds, he was going to kill Landry and the pilot and crash the plane so that no one else, who cowardly ran away with prior knowledge of the plague, would get the vaccine. Basically, a *beep* you to the remaining cowards.

I just finished watching it on NETFLIX today, and I like the "kill 'em all" scenario. Maybe he kills landry, destroys the vaccine, has the pilot land the plane at the refuge and runs amok infecting as many people as possible.

In the long run, only the IMMUNE will survive. Can the Brits beat back the Vandals again?

reply

I thought of an entirely different ending...

To see Tom on the plane, unrestrained, I thought that Tom must have been working WITH Landry's group from the beginning. What Tom hadn't expected was to begin caring for his 'target' and group of friends so he switched sides.

However, after being rejected by his 'love' at the end, he made his way back to Landry for repairs before his next assignment from them.

See what happens when I'm left with stories that don't tie up all loose ends?

reply

But he was in prison. This grand scheme he had relied on one of he guards becoming careless and letting him out, then his meeting up with a random group of survivors (that did not kick him to the curb)?

To what end?

If that WAS their intention, I am glad they never made it to series 3.

reply

I imaging him going stealth recognizance to get to the bottom of it all & perhaps locating Greg's family.

Movies: Now more than ever.

From the determined look on his face, I am pretty sure I know what was implied. His expression reminded me of Malcolm McDowell's final scene in A Clockwork Orange when he imagines the violence he will perpetrate. He is going to kill Landry, that much is clear. And then he will control the vaccine in whatever paradise they are flying to. You can be assured he will be the only violent ex-con amongst the population of thinkers, politicians, and scientists they would have gathered. He could pretty easily make himself into a dictator, doling out the vaccine to his loyal few. The rest wouldn't even be able to get near him for fear that he was a carrier.

reply

Or even reconnaissance, for that matter....

But proper use of the English language aside, I think this is the only feasible explanation. Why would he, in effect, kill off the remainder of the human race (because without the vaccine, all but the VERY few like Abby and Peter would die from further mutations of the virus. Tom may have been an anti-hero, but it was quite obvious he genuinely cared about certain people.

reply

No, bloody unlikely.

reply

Yeah, I thought that was stupid actually.
What was the point?
Liked the series, but Tom getting on the plane did not make sense.

reply

Yeah,always thought that was a cliffhanger for a S3 - that
never came.

reply

And a DC-3/C47 of all planes? How far do they think they're going to get on one of those, if they're supposedly in some secret location! They had a range of 1500 miles, so if they're flying in and back out, that means 750 miles each way maximum.

BOHICA America!

reply

It was probably heading for one of the 800 islands in the British isles. My guess is one of the ones off the coast of Scotland as they would be the most isolated ones.
