Weird film.
Even on both sides, it seemed they were trying to point out that the French were "superior" to the Germans/Nazis. Every scene with the French police almost always had them mentioning how they're so wonderful at police work and the Germans are nothing but brutes. Comeon, French people, you were occupied by them for what, 4-5 years? Give me a break. I understand the 23 were brought in by the Vichy only, but it got really tiring and made me want to watch Un Village Francais or Jean Moulin, which I shall be doing this weekend to cleanse my brain of the large amounts of mindnumbing stupid dialogue in this film. Sorry, can't see Gestapo and SS pandering to French Vichy authorities and literally bowing down to them. That's all I saw in this film for the most part, other than the brief-but-memorable portrayal of Oberg.
Missak was well portrayed, but everyone else was inconsistent, hardly in, or devious and boring. I also couldn't stand the redhead. She was a dreadfully trite little thing and I hope her actress has a hard time finding work (at least outside France and on the French tv I watch :) ).
Perhaps this story was true, but it didn't transfer to a very engaging film. I felt that the middle to third forth of film were the best. The rest was rather so-so.
