Hostel 3 = Alternate Version of The Hangover

I didn't dislike it, but all I kept thinking throughout this movie was "wow it's like the hangover version gone really really wrong." Eli Roth's mind (yes I know he wasn't involved in this film) meets the hangover.

Quite a lot of fun though. Not amazing, but decent twists and turns. It's better than a lot.

Just watched this movie on DVD and kept thinking it's "The Hangover" with some cheesy teenage snuff-porn thrown in (a guys face peeled off, another guy shot with a bunch of arrows, a villains arm chopped off, etc). In some morbid way Hostel 1 & 2 was fairly compelling, but Hostel 3 pretty much sucked as it tried to transfer the same compelling element to an obviously straight-to-video stupid audience. Dumb flirty American tweenage girls drawn into a periolous "foriegn" spooky situation. East Europe/Las Vegas = some sort of danger... Yawn....

I thought it was fairly entertaining, at least as good as the craptastic, theatrically released Hangover 2. And, for the record, I was thinking the same thing about the Hangover comparison.
Kip Pardue was Bradley Cooper, the guy that got his face peeled off was Galifinakis, the lead guy was Ed Helmes, and John Hensley was the dude that got stuck on the roof the whole movie.

Tweenage girls in this movie? What movie were you watching?

If you want The Hangover gone wrote, then check out Very Bad Things.

strangely enough, I hated the Hangover. It had a few laughs but when they reveal where the dude is and it's where he IS *beep* OBVIOUSLY AT, that just ruined it and no offense to anyone on here I've never met anyone who I thought was smart after saying that movie was good. I actually liked this movie more and I didn't really like this movie

reply

This is exactly what my husband and I thought while watching this movie. We both hated the Hangover and said that we wished this had happened to them.

People really need to stop making such general judgements of people based on their tastes in movies/music/whatever. It's really absurd that you would make that statement.

THANK YOU!

I thought I was the only one who couldn't tolerate watching that god awful piece of cinematic fecal matter called Hangover.

The entire film felt forced. It was almost as if the writer(s) couldn't think of anything, so they decided to go with whatever came to mind at a round table discussion for the most wacky, ridiculous, nonsensical events to happen, throw that all together and film it.

reply

No, and that came out first, and that was a very different movie. That's just Christian Slater gone wrong.

reply

Yes thinking the same exact thing lol.

I was going through some reviews I missed and saw the cinema snob's one:

with the exact same thought process, a few days later then TC's heh..

But yeah, it's evident to everyone that watched this garbage. Much like how they tried to trick you with who to suspect in the beginning, it almost feels like it was intentional and lazy..

reply

Yeah, and the thing was, even this was much better than Hangover.
worst thing is, why do people even do stuff that leads to this? imo guys in this movie deserved it.

That's like saying girls who wear short skirts deserve to get raped. GEZZ They were there for a bachelor party, not all of the guys were DB's

reply

So bachelors party gives excuse to break the law and do various idiotic things? The better example would be if a women went around and rubbed their excrement organs into people and then screamed that somone put a stick into them.

Good assessment I didn't even think of that. Hangover gone really wrong. Overall the movie was alright but has nothing on the first two.

reply

ironically this piece of *beep* was still better than the hangover, one of the unfunniest movies ever pressed on dvd
