I wonder what they did to him after the little face lift. They don't seem like the mercy killing sort, but I think he deserved to be put out of his misery out of that... or at least to come back at the end and save the day!

How long would it actually take to bleed to death after having the skin from your face removed??

Not sure if they mercy-killed him, but we did see his dead body later during the fight in the incinerator room. He accidentally got his face chopped in half by a butcher knife.
