They missed a perfect opportunity

For an Arrested Development homage in that prison scene...

I love Arrested but it's not inside the realm of their wold to add in an homage to the show.

Well, they do homages.
Last episode had a nice one for "The Lady from Shanghai."
But I feel like Arrested Development is a bit too recent for them to use.
It seems like something needs to be at least 30 years old before it gets the homage treatment from this show.

That's exactly what I meant. It doesn't fit the kind of homages that they are going for.

Haha, I agree with that up to a point, but watching that scene I was just waiting to hear one of the guards yell, "No touching!"

reply

Don't get me wrong... I would have laughed my ass off if that would have happened. But it just doesn't fit their world. Woo! Just seeing "No touching" gets me excited!!! For the movie... of course... not because of the word touching.

I must have missed the "The Lady from Shanghai" homage, care to detail it please.

reply

It was mainly a visual homage. The whole scene in the aquarium is a homage to "The Lady From Shanghai." The LFSH scene is a pretty famous one as far as the conventions of film noir. Shadows, low light, meetings with a scary and shady informatnt, etc.

There were a lot of "George may be Jonathan's real father, nudge nudge" type of jokes throughout the series. I was hoping they were going to do something with that, but perhaps it would've been too predictable?

reply

I thought George would be revealed as his father too.
