Galifianakis' Hangover success contributed to crap 3rd season.

Ray in the third season seemed to have devolved into Galifianakis' Hangover character and changed the dynamic of the show. It didn't feel like the first 2 seasons at all.

Such a shame.. I liked this show (at least the first 2 seasons). Sorry it's gone.

Has anyone in this family ever even seen a chicken?

.... Except that the 3rd season wasn't crap and your idea makes no sense.

reply

the 3rd season clearly wasn't crap, but that doesn't change a fact that was definitely the worst season of all three.

reply

3 was the worst of the seasons in your opinion.

I love Ray, but can honestly see how he became more and more Hangover-ish in the third season. He should be more comic book geek than outright buffoon.

I just binge-watched Seasons 1-2, and loved this show so much. Couldn't believe my great luck that there was a Season 3! ...until I started watching it. The first 2 episodes were so lame I didn't even make it through episode 2.

Maybe part of it has to do with Galifianakis' success...I don't know. The writing seemed obvious and subpar, as if Ames was bored with the series. The actors also seemed like they weren't investing in it anymore and were relying on obvious over-the-top self-parody.

Oh well. Season 1 & 2 were really spectacular TV. Season 3...what a departure.
