It's rare when I can say I have no idea whatsoever what happened at the end. This is one of those opaque yet naturalistic thrillers I've ever seen. Reminds me (in terms of experience) of the much-hyped but horrible "Oregonian". Apparently she kills one of the guys, then hands the knife over to the other guy and simply walks away. WTF?
Those other people are presumably relatives or friends of the real house owners who were murdered before the movie started.
I can only guess the director thought he was doing an homage to David Lynch with odd characters, absurd/awkward conversations, dream sequences and unanswered questions a go-go but, unlike Lynch, this film is not in the least bit entertaining or even mind-bending. It took me three days to get through it because I just couldn't stay awake.
I appreciate that it's not another idiot D-cup actress running and screaming through woods type movie, but this just didn't work either. I was expecting a more intellectual/dialogue driven thriller along the lines of "The Desperate Hours" or "Funny Games" but...
