Question.

Why did Aliya's husband (the fat Doctor) say that he was finished after the kidnapping and wanted Mike to take her back to England with him?

Also why the hell didn't Mike put a few thousand rounds into the little *beep* who blew Aliya away?

reply

1) Chances are he wanted his wife to be safe, perhaps under the impression that because he was kidnaped, she would be at risk.

2) There was a crowd between them, a massive number of civilians could have been killed in the crossfire. Also he was likely too focused on trying to save his son rather than take revenge.

reply

Question 2, as he wasn't allowed to open fire as his troops/men hadn't been attacked, he wasn't in a position to 'decide' that he could kill an insurgent who had killed one of their own.
I'd have thought protocol would have been out the window on that one, especially as the kid was congratulated on his murdering the woman!

As to Q1 - do you agree it was clear at that moment that the doctor and his wife acknowledged an unspoken awareness of her affair? She said 'I'm sorry' softly or something like that, after he'd pretty much just given her away to the one she wants to be (already has been) with. I thought that was pretty touching...and all too easily forgettable given how the scene plays out minutes later.

reply

Yes, I agree with mikeg-50.
