DVD?

Anybody know how or where to buy it on dvd? I know that it's a slight risk considering the predominantly negative opinions on it but I LOVE "Streets of Fire" & I also have a penchant for grade z "grindhouse" type movies too so I think I've got a good chance of liking it. I haven't been able to find anything on when (Or if) it'll be available on dvd though...

I'd like to know the same thing as well. I find it very curious that several critic's bad mouth this movie and down rate it yet it really doesn't seem to exist at all. Do critic's get to view movies the viewing public doesn't get to see? As of 20i6 this movie is A.W.OL. and from the looks of things shows no signs of being made at all. There's no record of it being for sale at Amazon.com or eBay either. Normally a movie this bad (according to the critic's) would've simply been released as a "direct to DVD product" but this hasn't happened. I'm really not sure what the story is here was this movie ever made at all? As of now it only exists on paper in print form. Very "Twilight Zoneish" IMHO!!

Simply story & simple answer

Albert Pyun never had any rights/contract/permission and whatever else is needed to produce/direct AND release a commercial follow-up to "Streets of Fire".

So what he did? He started a campaign to collect funds for a "spiritual" follow-up "loosely" based on "the events in Streets of fire". What does this mean? Well, its like, you speak to a lawyer and propose him a couple of ideas to run through legally, and both are fully aware its about trying to find a way to bypass the "copyright issue". So then you come up with a construct of "nonsense", feeling safe, pipedreaming stuff like "its not a sequel to Streets of Fire, its more like a prequel to a version of Streets of Fire that I made up in my mind" and "adjusting" all Streets of Fire elements into "similar" but different elements, hinting without saying, writing without showing ... and getting Michael Pare, thanks to a mindboggling funding campaign (ah well, they know each other anyway and Michael Pare is an actor, its a job, so no problem in that).

As time went by, rumours floating and even Michael Pare mentioning a "Streets of Fire 2" in interviews (I guess that was the beginning of the end), Pyun really thought this plan would work. Festivals were booked (and yes, really, this movie exists) and a webpage was set up (his own company) taking pre-orders for the dvd (special edition blabla).

Bit more time went by and someone somewhere at Universal (or whatever sister branch of them owns the rights today) got ahold of this comedy and decided to step in, leaving Pyun with the only option of either releasing it in a non-profit way after apologizing or facing a financial armageddon in court. Since non-profit doesnt really pay the bills, he went on to do whatever project would pay them next. Thats business, thats life.

Yes, this movie does exist and no - its not good, not good at all. By now, I would expect you to find virtually all of it on youtube, either in parts of total. Its a low-budget digital blue-screen garbage that is a disgrace to everything you like of Streets of Fire.

Its a movie-making scam to cash-in on something you dont own - with zero effort and investment.

After watching it you will see why this amateur-video wouldnt even pass for a direct-to-DVD anyway...

****** The above story might have been exaggerated :)

Road to Hell was acquired by a company called Wrekin Hill in the US who release most of their films thru Lions Gate.

According to Universal Music, they licensed the two Jim Steinman songs to the film without restrictions. The licensing fee has been paid. They did originally licensed the songs to the film for Festival play dates without any payments.

Universal or its companies have not restricted Road to Hell from release in anyway.

Get your info straight. The film has played paying dates in Chicago, Albuquerque, Las Vegas and Melbourne. It has appeared on the rentrack theater revenue reporting chart in the top 25 for limited release weekend.

It did not use blue screen. It is the best reviewed film pf Albert's career and has won several best picture awards. The soundtrack is coming out via Howling wolf Records.

It might be a disgrace but it must really be hurtful to losers out there who wish ill to Albert and the film.

Albert's latest comes out in March 2017 where it will have its world premiere at the Horrorhound Weekend Film Festival in Cincinati.

Here's is a link to one of the Jim Steinman songs from Road To Hell:

You can decide how good the GREEN SCREEN looks in this scene.

Thanks Cynthia,

As you wish, lets get some info straight. Blue/Green/Pink/Red or whatever screen - doesnt change anything in regards to this poor digital homevideo look. The only one who wishes someone "Ill", as you say, is Albert to his fans by actually thinking to make money with it and pass it off as a real movie.

When was Road to Hell supposed to have been acquired officially?

http://www.wrekinhillentertainment.com

They must have been so proud and happy that they simply forgot to add or even mention it ever since. Sure does happen alot in the movie world after acquiring the rights.. its like good wine, eh?

They dont promote it, nor even mention it because for what I have written in my first posting and I guess by asking Universal, you will find out the same. Festivals, as you know, is a whole different legal aspect. Theres also nothing wrong in doing your own Star Trek movie and touring Fan Festivals.

You forgot to mention the Road to Hell DVD Special Edition part ... so after taking preorders and delaying/postponing/stalling you eventually canceled it all because... that would have meant a commercial release and that would have been, as indicated, a financial armageddon caused by Universal. Im sure they wont restrict it from beeing released for free.

The songs and music have nothing to do with any of it, other than to shift the focus from the real copyright issue. Else, following your logic, you can also get a license for the theme of star wars and make your own trilogy based on it.

While youre at it, please pass these "reviews" praising "this movie" as Alberts career best. Im sure will be highly reputable sources.

Speaking of "Albert latest" - which is what exactly? The never-ending cyborg stuff? Cant wait for that ...lets see what will be first, another title & story change or something actually getting released in march 2017 as you say...... but how its connected to Road to Hell here, I dont know.

EDIT 11/02/17

Heres whats also funny. Seems even Michael Pare himself doesnt know whats going on and when he contacted you on facebook, you first chose to ignore (yes, im sure it was overlooked, its just a posting by Michael Pare...in the comment section of a road to hell posting)

So since he didnt receive any answer to that, he chose to post more directly in an unrelated post to it so you wouldnt be able to ignore it.

Doesnt really sound like this has been sorted and whenever there is a situation like this, or any problems, the health issue card is played.

Especially when distributing it for 9.95 to RENT for 2 days ... I guess thats due to another legal issue related to "selling" it officially. Perhaps this "distributor" should release a statement on this, sure they are not obliged to release anything but why throw away money?
