Terrence Malick's Diana?

I imagine this film to be like if Terrence Malick or Darren Aronofsky had made it ., like Tree of Life meets The Fountain meets Diana

reply

Having now seen it, I wouldn't say that your assessment is entirely off-base, but it's not nearly as abstract as a Malick film.

reply

Oh thank god.

Can you imagine what a Terrance Malick-directed film on Diana would be like? The story would be told entirely through Diana's letters with various people with endless shots of Diana smiling in the sun and holding a young William and Harry in her arms. I'm falling asleep just thinking about it.

reply

LOL. Indeed.

I kind of liked Tree of Life, but by and large I am no fan of Malick. A friend of mine and I went to see The Thin Red Line when it came out in theaters all those years ago, and to this day we STILL talk about how interminably long and boring that experience was.

Try sitting through "A Hidden Life"---all 3 hours of it. Like a lot of his films, it divides audiences. Some find it profound, even spiritually uplifting, while others (like myself) found it boring and pretentious.
