Well. . . Actually I think that the picture on the poster is exaggerated and that the immensity of the dress, and how it nearly swallows up little Diana, whose face is away from us as if she is in tears, is meant to symbolize how the royal life swallowed her up and dominated her and ultimately broke her, or at least nearly broke her.
