still unsure how to feel about this

it's not even about Kristen herself.. but the very idea.
haven't we beaten Princess Diana's tragic story to a pulp?

reply

yup, gonna squeeze the story of the pretty lady in fancy dresses to the last drop

reply

The trailer was good

reply

Unsure of Stewart. Nice poster though.

reply

Nice poster!

Crap title. "Spencer" singular is Diana's father or brother, the current Earl. Diana's legal last name was Mountbatten-Windsor, a.k.a. The Princess of Wales, or just "Diana". She was so famous she didn't need to use a last name at all.

reply

I suspect the whole point of the title is that Diana never really WAS a royal, not in her heart, and never should've married into the royal family.

reply

Yeah, too bad somebody already used the title "Diana", which implies that Diana was very much her own fabulously famous self and much more than a a member of the Royal Family. "Spencer" does imply that Diana was more a member of the Spencer family than the Royals, and Diana wasn't very close to her family of origin.

Because she was THE Diana of the age, Diana Ross and Wonder Woman were the ones who had to use their last names or superhero titles to be differentiate themselves from the Alpha Diana.

reply

Indeed.

I actually had no idea what her maiden name was and was like, "Why did they call it Spencer?" I had to look it up.

But now that I know that was her original last name it makes sense.

Hopefully the film is good but Kristen Stewart sure seems like odd casting.

reply

Yeah, but they all made Charles be a Windsor instead of a Mount Baten, which was even his mother's name.

reply

Well, I betcha people in royal circles do use "Windsor" instead of "Mountbatten-Windsor", just not when Phillip was around.

And he'd be around during this story.

reply

Parliament did it. I mean in real life.

reply

Eat it, Prince Phillip!

Seriously, he was a twat.

reply

This will land Stewart her first Oscar nomination.

reply

I was surprised at how good a job the makeup and costume people were at making her look like Diana, but honestly, I have zero faith in Kristen's acting abilities, of which she has zero.

reply

She was good in The Runaways.

reply

i'm interested in it because of the director, who's made two films i like quite a bit (jackie & the club), and one i admittedly hated (ema) but you can't hit a home run every time at the plate.

reply

I think I know all I want to know about the tragic princess.

reply

I find it odd how all the articles are treating this film like it’s “groundbreaking” even though Princess Diana has been covered in other movies and TV shows before.
