Disappointing numbers for CR2!


Yikes! This could deter Disney from planning a trilogy!

After almost A YEAR of heavy promotion, an extensive multi-city national tour, plenty of publicizing by the actors, a CD, and naming the Disney's summer slogan after one of its songs, Camp Rock 2 only nudged Return to Halloweentown by 0.2 million viewers.

In other words, Camp Rock 2 garnered a measly 8 million viewers. That's it.

Adding insult to injury, Demi took to her Twitter to crow about how how amazing she thought the movie was. Despite multiple efforts to get CR2 on Twitter's Trending Topics list, it only lasted briefly. Instead, rival Selena Gomez took the #1 spot for days with the name of her new music video, "Year Without Rain." Ouch! At times, even "Raven" edged out CR2 on the TT.

I was much anticipating the movie's premiere, and watched it after I got home from a football game. It was not nearly as good as I thought it would be. The dancing was definitely an improvement over the last movie, but the songs are what made the movie. The plot was atrocious. Gee, a camp competes with another camp and the two main characters like each other. The Jonas Brothers cannot act on camera to save their lives, and Demi is no exception. Did her acting coach just tell her to show all her teeth when the camera gets to her? BTW, she looked NOTHING like she did in the last movie. It was hard to relate to and understand her character. The jump was way too dramatic from the first movie to the second. It didn't make sense.

This could be a potentially devestating blow to the future of the Camp Rock franchise. The Jonas Brothers don't need it to have successful careers, but Demi Lovato does. This could be the final nail in the coffin for talk about an upcoming Camp Rock 3.
