What do ya think 'bout the new game? Was it......

I love the first Ninja Gaiden for the X-box. I played it almost exclusively for at least a year. Everytime I finished it, I would start over, focusing on a new weapon. And don't get me started about NG Black. The addition of the missions gave me another six monthes of carpal tunnel damage. But I am conflicted about the new game.

They improved on almost every complaint I had. Yes, the camera still gets stuck in the worst positions, from time to time. But aside from that everything has been pumped up. Smoother controls, better cut-scenes, new weapons, new magic, new attacks, quicker power-ups, you don't have to spend the first three levels building up to being an ass-kicker, you start off with magic, you get lost less, they incorporated more of the triple jump, more wall running, more huge fights, etc. and etc. So everything for me has been pumped-up, like I said.

But I found the new game much easier. It's still a tough game, but if you know all the combos and have learned to just try every magic and every weapon with each individual new enemy or battle type, you can sail through. And listen, I am not coming on here, saying like I am Ninja Gaiden God, but I just sailed through. Even with the little side warp-zone battles included (they were kind of a joke though. Way too short and easy). And I got 28 of 30 scarabs, so I did wall search.

So, to wrap up. I really enjoyed the new game, but the first one took me three monthes to beat on normal difficulty. This one took 11-12 hours or something like that. And, while length of game play isn't a critical thing to me, after the hell Gaiden 1 put me through, I was hoping for a little of that.
Again, I really enjoyed the new game and still play it for a couple hours each week. I just want to know if y'all found it quicker and easier too? And has anyone heard if they will be putting out a second version with missions or will that be downloadable? What does collecting all 30 crystal skulls do for you? Does anyone know? And last question. I don't have LIVE, what does that bring to the table for NG 2. Is it worth it, just in regards to this game? Don't need to hear how great LIVE is. Thanks and any response to these questions is appreciated.

!@#$!IMPORTANT!@#$%

Since writing this, I have started a game on the next difficulty level and it clearly makes the game more difficult and adds new battles. It also seems like the wall runs were made more difficult, but I could just be imagining that. What other surprises it has in store I have yet to find out. This is the Ninja Gaiden, I was talking about though. But I guess my one complaint was made a little prematurely.

I am playing on the 4th difficulty level right now and it is totally rugged. But like I said that is what I am looking for!

You are correct though, this version of NG doesn't allow you to just set-up outside a battle, do a two-pop power-up and unleash. The AI has been improved, along with everything else(except those damn camera problems). But if you play each battle enough, you will find spots or battles against certain foes where you can just do the traditional power-ups and wipe out entire screens of enemies. You just have to try new methods of attack, different weapons and different combos, against each of the different foes. Don't become fond of any one weapon. The bigger the foe, the bigger the weapon or the faster the foe, the fastest weapon is best. That has become my rule of thumb. But, you'll figure it out, for sure!

Did you play the first Ninja Gaiden? Because that is what has made it so easy for me...I mean, as I have already stated, they took all the stuff from the first and just added new attacks, weapons and combos. So, if one is fluent in the first, it is easy to add the new stuff into your repetoire.

And the key for me was starting to work with weapons, that in the old game I never really used. I am all about the Vigorian Flail, right now. Oh, and the Lunar...master the Lunar! After the fully suped-up Dragon Blade, nothing kicks ass like the Lunar. When using the Lunar, jump at a foe and hit X. Once you have them in the air hit X two more times followed by the Y button. You will do a devastating arial attack. I run thru rooms of lower foes, just power-slamming the *beep* outta each and everyone of them.

Anyways...It is great someone finally responded to this post. I love NG, it is by far my favorite video game series of all time, followed closly by Resident Evil(can't wait for RE5, it is gonna be the *beep* If you have any other questions, I would be more than glad to help ya out. I love talkin' Gaiden. Good luck with the rest of the game and enjoy. Peace.
