it's not bad....

i'm ten minutes into it and its three aussie mates having fun in the sand. good stuff...just what i like to see. cant wait for the high performane stuff.

and they swear too!

reply

Good to hear, still 8 minutes to go here!

reply

I hate this so much. 40 minutes in and I've only smiled once, haven't laughed yet. The three are cheap rip-offs of the British hosts, and they act accordingly - and way too many US pop culture references. Can't wait till SBS put the original back on.

reply

It's absolutely awful. Complete and utter rip-off of the UK TopGear down to even the commentators. The track is completely dreadful (it is far too short, too narrow, not enough straights). Yes the commentators swear but they're simply not funny and the chemistry does not work between them.

Complete utter disappointment... then again what else do you expect from Australian TV when they try to rip off foreign shows.

reply

Looks like you and I got fed up at the exact same moment :P

reply

I'm trying to find a feedback button on the TopGear Aus wesite so I can request classic TopGear to be put back on. Can anyone see it?

reply

I've been trying to find a feedback section too...I gave up and came to IMDB to bitch and moan to anyone who'll listen.

Found it! Email any feedback or complaints to:

Since SBS was taken over by commercial interests the trend is to completely ignore the viewers. They even cancelled the long-running Feedback show, and that was conspicuously absent of compliants about ads.

reply

i must admit, the fast car stig lap thing was a shamozzle.

its a new crew, i think they need time to settle in..

i hope they get better.

reply

It's not a ripoff, it's a franchise. Top Gear Australia is made by an Australian subsidiary of BBC Worldwide. BBC is in control of the content and format.

reply

I enjoyed it, at least!

reply

I hated the small host, he was just annoying. The main dude was the best because he had some idea what he was doing, the others weren't even looking at the camera.
That maybac(spelling) segment was just a rip off, just a build up to show us... headphones. Oh yeah, what about the rest of the car AHHH.
The best was the sharkcage thing... didn't have point though, and they were cutting shots around so quick that it was meant to feel like he was in danger but it was just annoying.
Also yes the track sucks so its not even interesting to watch them go around it, and they talk wayyy to long to the guest about his crappy cars.

Ill watch next week, but if they haven't learnt from there mistake then I think Ill just wait for the UK one.

reply

I found the forced jocularity between the hosts in the hangar stressful to watch, thankfully there was mercifully little of it.

I think they should have made the Stig's Australian cousin a different colour, or changed his outfit in some way so The Stig doesn't take on a Santa Claus effect (multiple people claiming to be the one genuine article).

I think the fact that they have one decent host might keep it watchable.

reply

they should have made the new stig less tubby. i can imagine next weeks stig will be skinny, just proving the santa clause effect.

reply

was that supposed to be a track? at least the americans bother to get a replica of the track. Also where did the cameraman learn to shoot. And dont get me started on the news... ok i'm done.

"It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything."

reply

You're right, it's not bad. It's AWFUL.

I bet BBC Worldwide regret giving the first franchise license to SBS now, given the pi$$ poor results...

Damn shame really, so much potential wasted.
