Pastor Dan's Accent

Was it only me or did anyone else discern an amazing change in Pastor Dan's accent. At one moment he has a Southern States drawl and then it changes to a UK accent. Pierce Brosnan is a fine actor, but it seems like he turned up on set each day with a different persona. The movie started out creating tension with a nod to other movies where the protagonist is wrongfully accused, like the 39 steps, and spends his time trying to get justice, but then rather descended into hilarity. Presumably the intention was to poke fun at Evangelical Churches, but the accent change I could not follow - was it part of the plot?? Maybe someone can bring insight.

I specifically searched for a thread with this topic :P I noticed the same thing and i'm only 20 mins in!! I also got a bit of an australian accent as well as uk and southern, the southern was VERY faint and when i heard it, i thought it was a bit of a cliched accent to have for a pastor.

His accent sounded Kiwi or Australian to me - though a little wavering.

I simply am not there...

He sounded like Tony Randall

He sure didn't sound like Elmer Gantry. I kept wondering how somebody with his accent ended up in our Bible Belt, which he would have pernounced Bah-bl Bay-ult if he were American. He was mis-cast.

He should had stuck with an Oirish accent.

Its that man again!!
