To those who have seen it A question ? Spoilers

Spoliers >>
for those people who were as lucky as me and watched this very enjoyable film, i just have a question, when Pastor Dan is in the hospital and is speaking to the comatized Paul, he asks for a sign to take his life, and then he thinks he saw a sign when Paul's thumb moves, and it seems he is about to kill him by stoping the breathing machine, but later, it seems that he didn't do it and Paul wakes up..so what happened there ? why did he not kill Paul ? does anyone know ? or to those who read the book, does it say what happened ?

Since you never see him actually killing Paul after "the sign" maybe a nurse came in to the room. It's just a way to keep you in suspense, like a cliffhanger.

The audience doesn't know and everyone is left to create their own idea.

Mine is that Paul wiggling his finger was actually the start of him waking up. Dan probably wasn't prepared to kill conscious man, so he left. We later hear that Paul fully woke up and, most likely, identified Dan as the trigger man.

Well, first you have the classical "deathbed conversion" where Dan interprets the moving finger as a sign that Paul has become a Christian.
And then, he looks at the machine, but he doesn't do anything. I don't think he was interrupted, or they would show it.
If you consider the later scene where he battles with "Satan", it seems Paul has drunk his own Kool-aid, so at the hospital it seems to me that he thinks God is on top of things.
