Not worth it. Maybe you can find it in a library for free or maybe rent it...but it isn't worth a buy to me. I watched it once but would never watch it again. Or recommend it. And I love Darkplace, IT Crowd, Mighty Boosh, all that. This movie isn't funny like those shows. Nor is it serious. I didn't really get what the movie was trying to say, though it is visually amusing like the sets are done well. The script and acting aren't very good in it. I feel bad for saying that because I love the other projects those who were in this have done. I just didn't love this movie or even like it a lot.
And I don't think I'm an idiot for not liking it. The DVD cover said it was one of the best British comedy films of the decade and there isn't much comedy in it. Ok, so it could be emotional instead, except the acting isn't good enough for you to sympathize with the main character so when you find out what happened to Bunny at the end of the film, you don't really care. I didn't feel connected to any of the characters nor were they funny. It was just bland.
Say you go to a restaurant and you've gotten good service there. The food is good. Then you go there one night and order what is supposed to be the chef's special, but it is bland. It looks so good on the plate but yet you struggle to eat it. It doesn't make you throw up...it works as food so you don't go hungry, but you won't be ordering it again or recommending it to any of your friends, though you maybe recommend something else off the menu you liked before. I thought this would be a good metaphor since the director of this movie had a bad experience in a seafood restaurant and now can't eat seafood.
