didnt feel sad...(spoiler)

I don't think it's his death, as much as it is the whole plot that makes the film so sad. Throughout the whole film, you have no idea when Edward is stuck in the house and with Bunny popping up in the lounge room every now and then you don't expect him to have died and be a figment of imagination. I cried like a baby when he died because it explained everything - Edward's mannerisms and his fear of the outside world. I thought it was an amazing plot twist.

its given away halfway through that hes not really there....

reply

Oh really? I saw it like a year ago, so you're probably right.
But I still remember being really shocked and saddened to find out he was actually dead.

reply

i thought it was pretty obvious bunny wasnt really there. maybe not dead but i thought he was def being imagined...

Sorry for getting the character and actor mixed up.
The actor's name is Edward Hogg.

It was an honest mistake, no need to be so rude.

Sorry, I was angry and drunk. <3

I love this board. People are so real here and not just *beep* like so many other places on the internet. Just had to share.

I'm inclined to agree. It was pretty clear early on he was dead, and the first time he's seen it's pretty obvious it's a hallucination (although he does eventually just flat out say it, then argues with the hobo who insists he exists).

As for my last shred of sympathy for Bunny was lost after he made that phone call. He really was just a selfish bastard.

The actual scene with the bull was well done, but in the end... yeah, what did you think was going to happen messing with a bull?

reply

The ending wasn't a twist because it was built up throughout the film, especially the scenes of Stephen running away from something when he looked out the peep hole of his door. All that the big reveal did at the end was make me depressed since I thought the movie would be funny. I didn't sympathize enough with the characters or even know enough about them to care.

I mean the characters on Peep Show do that phone call thing and totally sell each other out, yet I find them funny and entertaining to watch. This movie wasn't like that. It came off too serious and then tried to be funny. I don't get why it isn't my cup of tea, but it just isn't.

Maybe this film shouldn't have been sold as a comedy. It really isn't comedy...more like quirky indie road movie fare. It's ok for that...just not much else.
