''TAKE COVER, CHILD!!!!!!!!''

Almost died laughing at Cage's delivery.

Agreed, it was hilarious. To the poster who said it wasn't funny, yeah. It was. Yes he was burning, but he wasn't using his normal voice. If you listen to him, he's affecting a very bizzare accent, he sounded to me like a fat Southern woman, which makes it all the funnier to me.

I think Cage did this on purpose because he's absolutely derranged, and it came with a great result.

It wasn't funny. He was on fire, and he wasn't using his normal voice? Well derr, he was screaming ffs.

reply

I agree it's hilarious that scene even though he's dying. His voice was so weird

Agreed. If I was on fire, I'm pretty sure my voice would sound different.

I thought it was the character trying to be funny and whilst I can see how some could be amused I found it rather sad (in a good way).

For relaxing times, make it Suntory time...

reply

I didn't think it was funny thought he was screaming like that because he was burning

Same here, I thought that scene was pretty sad, I know some that thought it was disturbing.

I found it mostly bizarre but also humorous. I noticed that, early on in the movie, he did have a forced way of speaking (or rather a deliberately different way of speaking) when he was in costume. I think he did this to help hide his identity? I haven't watched this movie enough times to really verify that theory.

One bit he enunciated like Adam West's Batman, while obviously dresses like 'Bale's' - pretty sure that was on purpose

Just two facts about your avatar:
- Dubya turned a surplus budget into a $1.413 trillion deficit.
- Obama lowered that $1.413 trillion deficit to a $680 billion deficit.

Pretty good reason for the high pitched voice: the boys were on fire.

Did anyone else notice that whilst he used Adam West to portray Big Daddy; his persona for Damon was Sheldon Cooper? As evidenced by the laugh he uses when watching the Kick Ass clip on Youtube.

He was trying to keep her in the moment, remember when he said he made it into a game? I think the southern accent is something he did only when they were "playing" so if anything, it was just to keep Hit-Girl calm, since she was getting emotional over him on fire, so almost to suck her back into "The Game" he puts on the accent.

Personally I think it's just the fact it's Nicolas Cage is what makes the scene more humorous and harder to swallow through a serious throat. But whatever, it made sense

I didn't think it was hilarious, I thought it was effing awesome and one of the most emotionally intense action scenes I've seen in a long time. Good work by the director, editor, Cage, the music guy, everybody.

completely agree.

Agree, saw the movie again yesterday, and that scene still gets me.

Upon a re-watch his voice doesn't sound different when he says take cover child, he's just screaming with the big daddy voice.

When his voice changes is after he has been on fire for a while, and after Mindy put it out and he says his final words.

I thought the first time, and still maintain, that Cage was talking like that to simulate having burnt his lungs/throat by inhaling super heated air.

You're a troll.
