Two beefs with movie

I liked this movie. It opened my eyes to worlds I had previously not known and it's always good when a movie can do that.

I thought the film makers gave Marty Friedman too much time, though. His thoughts on Japan's metal scene, although interesting from someone who actually played the music professionally, is still filtered through American eyes. It would have been better, I think, to hear more about Japan from the Japanese musicians. They seemed to do that more with the other countries.

I can respect Sam's statement about usually associating political songs with punk instead of metal but I thought it prudent to point out that Black Sabbath wrote the world's all time greatest anti-war anthem, War Pigs. Geezer Butler is one of rock's great lyricists.

But like I said at the beginning, I liked this movie and thought it was a great eye-opener.

Master of Puppets is about cocaine. "Chop your breakfast on a mirror..."

Megadeth's "Rust in Peace" is insanely political.

Give it a listen, it's basically an editorial newspaper with Marty Friedman on guitar.

So is most of United Abominations and the title song off Endgame. Slayer has a lot of political songs from different points of view too.
